Supporting science means you believe in humanity and all of it’s strengths and weaknesses.

Those who lack being able to recognize their own humanity, their own strengths and weaknesses, haven’t the brain functions necessary to see how their weaknesses stifle their humanity.

As long as Congress and the Courts continue to turn a blind eye to DT, we can expect more of the same.

What does one expect with a vicious fucking moron as presidunce, with a willing cabal of vicious, un-human scum lapdogs.

As people defend the institution and practice of STEM, those who oppose White Supremacy need to take action to challenge the profoundly racist / White Supremacist practice of science, particularly in the Global North.

In the wake of the #ShutDownSTEM and #ShutDownAcademia actions of this past June, there have been some organizations that issued statements acknowledging some of the White Supremacist practice in the field. However, many in the field, including many self-described progressives, have lashed out with claims that science is objective and that anyone who claims otherwise doesn’t understand science and doesn’t merit consideration as a member of the field.

Commonly, folk who defend the status quo, demand that those of us who claim that there are structural White Supremacist practices, provide evidence. Yet, as in the case of climate change deniers, they dismiss evidence we provide showing bias in what research is funded and what is denied, what research is published and what is rejected, what line of researchers are offered jobs and which are not, as well as data on what communities get to benefit, most directly, from Scientific innovation, technologies, and discoveries.

The GOP anti-science new dark age movement started four decades ago with Reagan dismissing coal fired power plants causing acid rain by serially calling for “more studies”, despite the issue having already been studied to death.

Newt’s 1995 contract on America included shutting down the office that furnished technical information (scientific and otherwise) to Congress, thereby opening the door to anti-science electeds and lobbyists.
Trump and his appointees are simply more bombastic in his disdain for science than his predecessors were.

It’s called “politicization of science “
It’s not science. Cherry picking facts, discarding hypotheses for “convenience” reasons … not science. Science is a search for reasons behind evidence. What passes for “research” these days is more a rat race for funding
