Thanks, AOC. This analysis is pretty strong evidence and hopefully - with enough push from the rest of us as well, this message will finally get through.

I always though of WE THE People as what democracy was. A government which serves All the People. Socialism serves All the People, and it seems like Democracy is actually what should be called as CORPORocracy. DEMOS means the PEOPLE, although in ancient Greece, not everyone could vote except men and those with money. So it does seem as if the Founders leaned too far into ancient Greece.
A nation who truly worked for the People seems more like Socialism…at least, that’s what the Preamble says to me. : )

Ah, er… have ANY of these knuckle-dragging reactionary morons, of either party taken a look at the fucking stock marketrecoveries over the three preceding CRASHES they’d instigated, SOCIALIZING their equally geriatric Massa’s losses while killing OUR economy with Mellon’s brilliant liquidation strategy of 1929? I’m absolutely dreading our obdurate, senile Chicago School neoConfederacy of Dunces replacing Trump’s brilliant mob-funded Casino “fuck you, PAY me” fiduciary scams? Capitalism dun killed its-own-self… now what?

I agree, the ideas behind GND and M4A are great, and most of the populace supports them, and when it is thoroughly explained, so does Defund the Police. My gripe is in the branding–the cons can lower the standards for air and water pollution and call it something like The Clean Air Act or The Clean Water Act or any number of other regressive laws having the opposite effect and get away with it. IMHO maybe the Dems should hire some folks from Madison Ave (shudder).

follow the money folks - democratic big money supporters don’t like us socialists. fuck them all. so much for voting for Biden/Harris. have you seen some of those being proposed for the next cabinet. enuf to make one throw up. then the damn dems wonder why people don’t come out to vote for them next time.

Shilling for right wing interests is to be expected from mainstream media. Ironic isn’t it, and sad, that Trump’s labelling of the media as ‘fake news’ has some resonance, when it comes to shutting out solutions to our common climate emergency.

Too bad that facing the destruction of the planet currently underway means cutting through the corporate bs that plagues the world…and causes untold misery in the third world and global south.
In Canada we’re hoping a Biden presidency will mean détente with Cuba, relief for Venezuela, a recommitment to the nuclear treaty with Iran, and the promised cancellation of Keystone XL…but we aren’t holding our breath.

Love your turns of phrase…it’s a farce writ large for sure.

By contrast, of the 11 moderate* Senate candidates hand-picked by Schumer, six of Chuckie’s picks lost, three won, and two remain in limbo until Georgia’s January runoff.

Sorry, was stoned AND on the, now crowded, #1 Local. One pretty scary thing is: Mr. Market’s now killed coal, fission and slick-water fracking, so 1.9 MILLION leaky ass, soon-to-kick, impossible to plug side-drilled wells TO LOSE MONEY is not anything any grown-up, “pragmatic” politician would ever suggest. These blathering jackals are on TV, to bail out ridiculous Ponzi Scams no sane investor would EVER even consider. I’ve worked for gas & oil transmission clients for WAY too long. Shell’s using wind and PV on pads where it’s long been the most practical energy source. Biden & Harris are simply clueless shills for a god damned pyramid scam reading Energy in Depth LIES like Hillary read Rick Berman’s “Russia funding divisiveness” trope for ~$360K to TD Bank/ TransCanada. Both parties are on ONE side, our kids’ lives are on another. We’ve ALL got to pick sides, real SOON?

“Messaging” is a piss poor substitute for sensible policy.

Side step the politicians.
!. On climate: Grow your own. Eat organic produce, Eat grass fed & pastured meat, dairy and eggs. The Netflix movie “Kiss the Ground” is an iformative and entertaining presentation on how we can reverse climate change with our forks and still be able to drive our gas or as I prefer ethanol guzzlers.
2. On economic stimulus go on and/or support a student loan strike. The pols are talking but they will not act until forced to. Student loans have been packaged, hypothecated and rehypothecated like subprime mortgages. They are guaranteed by the government and are the only nongovernmental debt that cannot be discharged in bankruptcy. That is why Wall Street loves them. Because of student loans Wall Streeet already owns the Social Security of 40 million Americans without their knowledge or permission. If enough people default on their student loans, Congress will be forced to step in and pay them off to save Wall Street AGAIN!!! But that money though paid to Wall Street will mean 40 million people can spend that money into the real economy.
3. Work for state and local public banking so that local and state governments will be able to fund projects for the people. The Public Banking Institute has a site where one can find local groups and become educated so that we can all click our ruby slippered heels.

Agreed 100%!! Just that the best, most sensible policy still needs to be “sold”, and Defund the Police is, as a slogan, very easy to ridicule.

Hard to get the message through to people whose livelihood (or grift) depends on not getting the message.

Why don’t they blame the 70,000,000 who voted for Trump? Or what their own campaigns did or didn’t do.

Until supporters of the policies underlying the GND understand that the messaging lost, we will lose progress.

Until supporters realize that the strategy underlying the GND demanded a great deal of nuance education and arguments --neither of which are easily available for candidates lower on the ticket, we will continue to falter at state house races and governships.

Not talking about policies, I am talking about supporters realizing that there is no sin to improving a message and understanding that purity standards do not work across the country

The first tip off that I’m dealing with the right wing is generally invective…go ahead, look the word up. Name calling, wild unsubstantiated claims…

You may have a point to make, but so far, I’m not detecting it.

I agree. Reallocate Police Funding might be a better choice.

Dude, I hope not! Holding anything in too long is just a (much more passive) means of bogarting, besides, you always gotta exhale before you can inhale again, and that cycle really starts to build up a nice rhythm after a while.

Still a lot of work to do, and many miles left to walk, before we rest.
