'A Cruel Joke' and 'Morally Repugnant': Critics Blast Trump's Tax Plan for the Rich

Andrea Germanos, staff writer

While President Donald Trump on Wednesday asserted from a podium in Indianapolis that his tax plan was "more fair for everyday Americans," a chorus of voices quickly derided the new, detail-short proposal as "wealth-fare," a "

To call that tax plan ‘a cruel joke’ is ludicrous. It’s a monstrous HOAX. Didn’t the GOP brag about reducing the tax code to one page? Obviously that’s one promise that aren’t even remotely interested in. Well, guess we need to crash tax ‘reform’ just like we did healthcare ‘reform’.

“Our democracy’s Founding Fathers did not want a privileged aristocracy. Yet that’s the direction we’re going. The tax on inherited wealth is one of the major bulwarks against it. That tax should be increased and strengthened.”
Robert Reich

Bingo! Let’s get busy. Total, non cooperation after massive actions.

This should remove all doubt about trump’s motives for continuing in office. I can’t wait for the insensitive, insulting remarks that will doubtlessly issue from his visit to what should be our 51st state.

#6

Identify the enablers of the right then boycott their products and services.

At a bare minimum the uber rich will get at least 5% more money (39% tax rate dropped to 35%). Hmmmm… 5% of 5 million = $250000. 90+% of the population doesn’t even make that much in 2 years.

#8

More fair for which everyday Americans? Certainly not the elderly who paid into the Social Security system for their entire adult lives. He can’t be thinking of our newest generation who have yet to enter school or those attending already strapped school systems. I doubt that he is considering those who are totally dependent on medicare or medicaid. Making America Great Again must be referring to those who don’t have to worry about living in a bankrupt country.
Oh he so has gotten the bestist help our money could rent.

He will get a hero’s welcome. They know better than to make him feel underappreciated. They will start dying without help.

America prints money. The Federal Reserve and its Mom the World Bank is not letting consumer America go bankrupt. War nations never paid war debt. Wiped clean. Forget the debt and focus and who gets the paper money. Caesar is looting and pillaging Rome while Mueller fiddles. We are the power. We have stopped the most insane of the legislation but we can’t stop the daily minutia of maggots like Pruitt dismantling regulations protecting the air children breathe. There is only one rule. There are no rules. Resist.

Thomas Jefferson, to John Adams
Monticello, October 28, 1813

…there is a natural aristocracy among men. The grounds of this are virtue and talents…There is also an artificial aristocracy, founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents; for with these it would belong to the first class. The natural aristocracy I consider as the most precious gift of nature, for the instruction, the trusts, and government of society. And indeed, it would have been inconsistent in creation to have formed man for the social state, and not to have provided virtue and wisdom enough to manage the concerns of the society. May we not even say, that that form of government is the best, which provides the most effectually for a pure selection of these natural aristoi into the offices of government? The artificial aristocracy is a mischievous ingredient in government, and provision should be made to prevent its ascendency.

Another tax break Trump wants—a tax break for companies that automize —they will get the tax break in the first year------sound worker friendly? How much BS are the people of this country going to buy into???

Getting this Imposter Government’s attention grows increasingly difficult. I wonder if the renouncement by about 10-20 million people of their US Citizenship would get the attention of those countries which make a Trump (and Republican) Presidency possible by buying US Treasury Bills? All of this fascist takeover is being financed by BORROWED money. Lenders spook easily. Maybe the day will come when Big Lenders say “YES to USA”, but “NO to USA with Trump attached”.

#14

According to one study, by David Cays, the biggest winner in the new tax code will be Trump. Yeah, I have to admit Trump’s business acumen, while exceedingly corrupt, was that he made a great business decision in running for POTUS. One has to wonder how much wealth Trump will accumulate before he is through!

#15

Ok, we the choir, see how corrupt dump and his orange cabal AND the “congress” are. Now how to get these facts into the thick skulls of dump’s minions?

#16

Ending the Estate Tax altogether is a crime and outrage (among all the other proposals) that will create even more dynastic families of vast wealth deadly to politics, government, and democracy…especially as now corruptly/criminally practiced in the US.
What we do not need is more subversion of our republic by malignant self-interested wealth!
The tax rates on vast wealth should/must be taxed MORE to force the wealthy who will not to give-back to the society that makes their “success” possible!
The burdens on the 99% cannot take any more evasions or manipulations of politicians, candidates, elections, legislation to buy even more representation by the greed-driven or wealthy fools!

Greed, ignorance, contempt for most others, corporate fascism, and all the other benefits the wealthy can buy or steal when the 99% cannot will be increased beyond all morality!..the ginger chimp: unfit for ANY office!

#17

Even Fast Track TPP Wyden is against it. It must be very very bad.

#18

The largest creditor to the US is the Social Security trust fund. If they fail to pay it back it would amount to a default.

#19

Since corporations are considered to be "persons"

they should be required to pay the highest taxes at the same rate as wealthy individuals: 39.6% right now, and 35% for individuals if Trump has his way. Not a tax rate of 20% as Trump wants. It’s only fair.

Even a stupid person should be able to understand that trump refusing to release his tax-returns is highly suspect - the smoking-gun. Even a stupid person should be able to understand that his tax “reform” plan is yet another gift to vast wealth and power - just more “trickle-down” lie and diversion of responsibility from the rich to the 99%! What a grand con!

Even a stupid person should be able to see that none of the R’Con players or their corporate/banker/wall street handlers give a flying rat’s ass about other people! The 99% exist as wage, interest/debt (and rent) slaves to supply the 1% with wealth and lives of obscene ease and advantages “ordinary” people do not have!

OXFAM’s An economy for the 99 percent’, “shows that the gap between rich and poor is far greater than had been feared. It details how big business and the super-rich are fueling the inequality crisis by dodging taxes, driving down wages and using their power to influence politics. It calls for a fundamental change in the way we manage our economies so that they work for all people, and not just a fortunate few”.
https://www.oxfam.org/en/pressroom/pressreleases/2017-01-16/just-8-men-own-same-wealth-half-world

This will further concentrate wealth in fewer hands, NOT more, and will lead to even more corporate domination and inequality, as well as manipulation and control of our electoral processes and more legislation to rob the 99%!

“Eight men own the same wealth as the 3.6 billion people who make up the poorest half of humanity” THOSE are the people trump represents and this tas scam benefits, NOT your family!

Release your tax returns trump!
