'A Patriotic and Moral Requirement': Healthcare Workers, on Frontlines of Coronavirus Pandemic, Demand Protective Equipment
Bonnie Castillo nails it again, showing that the pandemic is a global social disease and she’s not just shilling to look good for her members. That’s the central difference between narrow, self-interested “business unionism” and real social unionism.
It’s the best that can be done in this kind of crisis in a capitalist political-economy – and helps to open room for actual revolutionary unionism that can help lead the way to ecosocialism.
That’s why we should still say:
BERNIE 2O2O!!! NO SAFE STATES! NO LOTE! NO FEAR!!!
Columbus, OH USA
We recently watched a British production of Arthur Miller’s tragedy of war-profiteering, All My Sons, in which it eventually, inevitably becomes known to the father, who shipped faulty equipment to the front, that one of the casualties of his greed and carelessness was his own son.
How can we, as a people, bear to send our most courageous soldiers into battle so poorly equipped? It’s like watching Gallipoli unfold. They’ll get mowed down like bayonet infantry versus gattling guns. Shame on exceptional USAmerica for gratuitous murder of our most beloved nurses – unfathomable shame.
Katrina response was monstrously inadequate but this SARS 2 is that response on steroids.
