Governor Raimondo never saw a gas pipe that she didn’t like. She packed decision-making boards with gas industry people. In one case she found the perfect lobbying flack but her candidate was found to live out of state (oops).

She started pretty near to the top. As an investor, she was one of Rhode Island’s worst state treasurers because she gave so much money away to Wall Street hedge funds. Massive Wall Street money came flooding into Rhode Island because the state was threatening to default on $100 million in totally unbacked loans made to a baseball pitcher for his video game dream. That’s how and why Raimondo got the money to be governor over all the other pro-business candidates. The same Wall Street forces got her re-elected in her Democratic primary against a potent but shoestring progressive candidate.

Kick the can down the road Joe is playing his voters for fools, but it seems to be working. He’s also playing to the republicans giving them what they want so that he can say see, I’m working across the aisle. While at the same time stabbing progressives in the back. Biden is unethical and immoral! It’s really that simple. There’s no such thing as being a little corrupt.

Same history as Biden. It’s a love match.

Stay on them! Highlight their every attempt at subterfuge and rank dishonesty. They only win when we become apathetic.

Your referring to Schilling’s foray into gaming?

I hate the guy, but the game (Amalur) was actually pretty good when it was finally completed.

At one point half the city of Newport went cold in a December cold snap and people’s pipes froze in their own houses. The reason was entirely political. Massachusetts would have fined the utility if the utility had cut off the natural gas supply. Rhode Island wouldn’t fine them. So, National Grid (a British company, referring to the British national grid) shunted their limited gas supply to nearby Massachusetts towns and turned vast numbers of Newport houses off.

Best guess: Biden - who doesn’t really have an agenda aside from time traveling back to the Obama era - really wanted her in his cabinet for reasons only known to him, and decided this was a good time since everyone was totally distracted.

Biden may not have an agenda of his own but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t one.

No, Biden will read dutifully from the script. With the bought-and-paid-for Harris in the wings, expect the total economic subjugation of America by 2032, at the end of her first term … our “friends” play a long game.

The rot is deep. The rest is theatre. And the best seat in the house is in Tel Aviv.

Agreeing with the part of your post about nominating Raimondo when no one is paying attention.

No! Progressive Dems should vote against this nominee.

Perhaps Biden’s health could be suspect in four years and AOC gets drafted to run. Would that end up the same way as a Bernie Sanders candidacy?

Never played the game, not my thing.

Gaming industry veterans were warning before the venture started that the industry was mature and crowded. If Curt Schilling didn’t hit a grand slam home run then the power of the established gaming companies would simply crush his startup company. If you can line up, say, 100 auto mechanics in a factory, you’re still not going to penetrate the market against Toyota even if the car runs ok.

“serious slap in the face to…Bernie Sanders.” It’s a feature not a bug in the Joebama Administration.

i agree. And I remember this discussion in the industry when it happened. Ultimately, the irony is that his group still wound up going hat in hand to the giant EA corporation in order to get the thing completed and published.

It’s a pretty interesting story about a creative vision versus the realities of a heavily consolidated market.

Scream in the streets, rend your sackcloth, tear out your hair; Joe Biden is acting like Joe Biden. No one could have foreseen this happening.

He is already on the path to appeasing the very republicans who do everything in their power to block any progressive agenda. Come on, Joe, you can do better than that.

“Come on, Joe, you can do better than that.”

Actually, probably not.

Biden’s picks show a preference for war mongers and corporate toadies–proving conclusively that when you vote for the lesser of two evils it is a guarantee that you will be ruled by evil

of course --the Democratic owners–ah campaign contributors- will never allow a progressive to head the Democratic party—if we really want the change needed to face the crisis of our making (climate collapse-endless wars-massive and growing poverty, the lack of health care , massive private debt and income inequity) we will need to form a party that is NOT wedded to the money from the corporate destroyers of our society and our world – a People’s Party(.org) as it were
