A Very Scary Week in the Middle East

Eric Margolis

What a scary week in the Mideast. The epicenter of the world’s energy resources and the land-bridge between Asia and Africa is spinning out of control as the danger of a shooting war between the US and Russia grows daily.

A US F-18 warplane shot down a Syrian Air Force SU-22 ground attack aircraft over eastern Syria. This was a grave, reckless provocation clearly authorized by Washington. Russia, Syria’s ally, threatened to begin targeting its supposedly deadly S-300 missiles against US warplanes over Syria.

I doubt if there will be a shooting war between the US and Russia. Both sides realize that is too dangerous given the possibility of a nuclear confrontation and certainly Russia has no chance in a conventional military confrontation with the US so Russia will be left with trying to act strong even though everyone knows they don't have much of a military. As long as Trump is president things in the Middle East will likely just get worse. If he is not impeached the next chance to do anything positive will be the election in 2020.

Just imagine how nasty things will be in the mideast if Pence becomes President!

Let's just keep Trump as POTUS because he only knows and admires David Duke, as opposed to actually being David Duke.
Mike Pence is a fellow piker compared to Con. Steve Scalise, " Vote for me and you'll get David Duke's policies without his baggage " or some such b.s.
It wouldn't make a $$$$$$-damn
dimes worth of difference, concerning the MENA, et al, whether Trump or Pence is President. They've relinquished their civilian control of the military to The Pentagon. Not like anybody dwells on such small details..

Where do you get the idea that Russia has an inferior military?

#6

They will always get nasty as long as the neocons are still in power.

Lrx is living in 1946. He doesn't seem to understand that 5000 nuclear warheads, shot off into the air like bottle rockets, pretty much ruins your whole week. That's why nuclear wars are never started before Wednesday. By a double secret agreement and and a double secret handshake, of course.
