ACLU Sues DC Police for Attempts to 'Chill' Dissent on Inauguration Day

Jake Johnson, staff writer

Amid a nationwide crackdown on dissent by President Donald Trump and the Republican Party, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on Wednesday filed a lawsuit (pdf) against the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department alleging officers violated the rights of protestors and journalists attending Trump's inauguration in January.

Always amazed at the feverish zeal with which a cadre of Americans attack and try to repress their fellow citizens. They probably strutted home feeling good about themselves, whereas their behavior was beyond shameful and bordered on the criminal. Definitely unconstitutional.

Thank you ACLU for filling this lawsuit. I can't imagine how thinly spread you're staff is with all that has taken place since the inauguration. Please remember it wasn't just in DC. People were refused entry at our northern boarder if they weren't pro Trump.
