Activists Manually Halt Flow of Tar Sands Oil Through Canadian Pipeline

Lauren McCauley, staff writer

Three Canadian activists were arrested early Monday after manually stopping the flow of tar sands oil in Enbridge's controversial Line 9, protesting the pipeline as an affront to Indigenous sovereignty, as well as the planet.

The individuals reportedly bike-locked themselves to a valve site just outside of Sarnia in southwestern Ontario after using the hand wheel to stem the flow. Police took the three activists, identified as members of the group Rising Tide North America, into custody after removing the bike locks.

What is really strange is they are losing money on the oil at the current price and that price is going to drop further. I would guess they are trying to empty out as much capital value for the tar sands minds, burying the neck deep in debt, run off with the money and leave those tar sands abominations to implode in debt, http://www.wsj.com/articles/oil-sands-producers-struggle-1440017716. They are losing money now, every time the price drops below around Fifty dollars a barrel, the are basically losing money polluting the planet, why, just why?
