After Last Version Blocked, Iowa's New Ag-Gag Bill 'Gives Middle Finger to Free Speech, Consumer Protection, Food Safety, and Animal Welfare'

Jessica Corbett, staff writer

Iowa's GOP-controlled legislature on Tuesday rushed through a new legally questionable bill that critics say "aims to criminalize whistleblowing on factory farms and other agricultural facilities"—just two months after a federal court struck down a similar 2012 law as unconstitutional.

Such laws are unconstitutional–for now. That might not be the case after our Federalist Society-approved sophists—er, judges—get finished reworking them on behalf of their patrons.

But by all means, keep the heat turned up.

Iowa legislators are next considering a bill that would officially change the state’s name to FactoryFarm.

It used to have The Hog State inscribed on its license plates. With all their gov’t farm subsidies that was changed, for obvious reasons.
It would be more acurate to call it The Farm Bureau State ( Of Mind ) or The Once Upon A Time Beautiful Land State.
It’s no mystery why the state has gained a mere 100K in population in 80 years, as the U.S. has grown over 2xs that, in comparison.
Two sayings from Iowa refugees alway seem to be repeated in conversations, " It’s a great place to be from " and " It’s not where you’re from, it’s where your headed ".
A pox on all their hog confinement houses.

Iowa manages to vie with much larger, warmer weather Texas for second position in ag revenue every year. But they win the blue ribbon hands down for whining per acre.

Yeah - the Ag-Gag and Industrial Farming fascists never sleep. Their right, their god-given entitlements to rule society, must never be challenged, they say. Anyone challenging their extremist ideology must be punished. Brutality in the farm and in public.

They’re Dominionists in the Old Testament version of the word. Lots of talk about " smiting ", also.
It’s a mixture of Hee Haw, Hayseeds and either Heaven or Hell for Heathens. Not much middle ground, apparently.

I liked that comment for the strong use of alliteration.
