Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Under Fire Because She’s Right

Jesse Jackson

The big guns are out for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the charismatic first-term legislator from New York.

In an apparent swipe at Ocasio-Cortez, Donald Trump used part of his rambling State of the Union address to say he was “alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country.”

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

  • John F. Kennedy

The plutocrats are working pretty hard on that predicate and have been at it for decades. The People’s patience is being stretched to the limit. AOC and like-minded individuals offer a peaceful path, but Kennedy’s admonition should never retreat too far into the back recesses of our minds.

Plutocracy: ‘rule by wealth’. Such a simple meme, seemingly so benign. Just keep in mind that it has been assiduously pressure-blister packed by the bernaysian media machine.

And it is for that reason that “patriot” (deep etymology ‘father condition’ -. Hmm, missing fully humanized components a little, maybe? claims to which are historically derided) is used to divide, claim possession and punish. In turn appearing with disturbing parallels to demonic possession: the practice of demonization and alienation by projection - very common in the late-stage empire in denial that it is experiencing collapse. And not by accident - the theme of ‘possession’ having had an exceptionally expensive and well sold run in the film industry

There is so much that needs to be done. Our differences are NOT knife blades but reflections of the spectrum of experience and skills absolutely necessary to a DEMOS successfully working together. Humility, according to the former is regarded as negative. In the latter, living in the REAL world, it is one of the greatest strengths where the human heart and mind see ‘other’ as integral to BEING and doing - what needs to be done.

regeneration nation!

There are roughly 20 seriously liberal reps unbeholden to corporate PAC money who would make a great base for a People’s Party.

Because within the Democratic Party, they’ll just taint themselves with the stink a corrupt brand.

We need these leaders not to back down as we witnessed yesterday with Omar. I know, easy for me to say, but until then the right will continue to win and there will be no change.

Still not sure why AOC is waffling on Venezuela. Does anyone know why?

Perot was a billionaire, but he was seen as a populist. Not so, Schultz. If he runs as an independent, his implicit message will be, “vote for me because I am a billionaire and therefore superior to you.”

If he runs as a Democrat, people will see it as a response to Trump and as an acknowledgment that electoral politics has transformed into American Idol for wealthy celebrities.

We certainly don’t need either message, but either one will expose the true nature of the classist beliefs of the wealthy.

Compared to the other major candidates in the 1992 POTUS election (Bush 41 and Clinton) Perot WAS very populist and applied real metrics including graphs in his campaign. Perot and Ralph Nader both let lots of facts get in the way of the endless stories corporate Democrats and corporate Republicans have foisted on us for the past three plus decades.

As TR and FDR demonstrated, there have been a few wealthy people who are populists. I believe Perot fell into that category. Although Schultz is very similar to the Clintons and other corporate Democrats there are a few wealthy folks today (Nick Hanauer’s Pitchfork Economics comes to mind) that are populists today.

Recalling how Jesse Jackson was demonized by the corporate overlords and their media during the 70s and 80s, his warnings to AOC and other real populists are spot on.

Poor JJ!–All he can do is to try to compare AOC to poll numbers (Trump has similar polls that support MAGA, “the wall”, and every other cock-eyed position he maintains), gadfly presidential candidate Howard Schultz, and even Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as proof that AOC is the wave of the future! Puppy love for AOC has so far elevated her to a status that she does not deserve. Eventually, like with Trump, this infatuation with AOC will collapse and then it will be interesting to see who follows in her place.

True courage will be displayed when political candidates openly embrace Socialism and run for a political party that is Socialist. Jesse Jackson tries to parse words when suggesting Medicare and a decent wage NOT Socialism. I say embrace the term and do not hide from it.

Keep in mind that the vast majority of Americans have bought into the “Maduro is a dictator” BS. A simple statement like… “I support Maduro” could upset the apple cart. Make no mistake, AOC understands that U.S. foreign policy is evil and corrupt, but to try to take on the MSM at such an early stage, could be strategically a bad move. It is sort of similar to Bernie Sanders who avoids hot button issues like the MIC. He knows that the military is not only bloated, but to a large extent not necessary, yet again the majority of Americans are not comfortable with the idea of dismantling the imperial war machine simply because decades of propaganda have had a powerful effect on the general populace.
A time will come when we can address these issues in an honest debate, but under the current junta, this will not be permitted. The first step is to highjack the Democratic Party from its corporate overlords. When we can successfully accomplish that, then we will be able to address the elephant in the room much more easily.

Something to think about: We were once a “lunar” system (Feminine, Mother as Deity, gylanic, egalitarian). Then the sweep of warrior hordes with rape and chaos and the Christian crusades (Masculine god, Father as Deity, patriarchal, hierarchical), and we became a “solar” system. It seems an end is in sight to the imbalance. We are striving perhaps toward a more “lunar” system once again. Or even better–for a balance between the solar and lunar. Now that would be perfection!

I agree, but I think it is best to transform the Democrats into a socialist party rather than trying to create a third party that will not get media coverage and may not even get on the ballot. Most card carrying members within the Democratic Party (rank and file) are quite aware that somethings stinks in Denmark! Hopefully in 2020 the rank and file can finally jettison the corporate sycophants from the Party forever.

She’s likely not especially informed about it. Her presence so far has been largely due to her perspectives on domestic politics.

I’d rather she keep quiet than make a bad problem worse, however, unlike frigging Sanders who can’t help but lob an imperial grenade at every opportunity.

A final reminder: AOC is still a Democrat, after all. She’ll need some margin for error.

“Eventually, like with Trump, this infatuation with AOC will collapse and then it will be interesting to see who follows in her place.”

Not so sure about that. I have heard predictions for years that Bernie would fade away, that the U.S. invasion of Iran is imminent and that Medicare-for-all will never happen. AOC will be unstoppable as long as she doesn’t fall in the trap that other Progressives fell into when they compromised their principles (Kucinich’s support for Obamacare, Obama promises to tackle inequality, close Guantanamo, or end the occupation of Afghanistan, etc.). Great leaders are the ones that are willing to fall on their swords like MLK, Gandhi and Susan B. Anthony. Unfortunately the lure of money and/or the threat of retaliation for not falling in line, has had a successful run over the years. It is imperative, if we’re going to save the planet, that WE support people like AOC unless they end up being ‘compromised’ at some point along the way. My guess is AOC will not waver… ever, and therefore her support is only bound to grow!

She’s also an actual voice of the people, which is practically a crime in that wretched body of crooks.

Skeletor Pelosi will show her who’s boss, though. Soon enough. Probably will create a special committee for Alexandria and her little friends: the “Know Your Place Peasant” committee.

I respectfully disagree cadet. How many people died in the Mid East because some politician didn’t want to upset the apple cart.

When did that ever stop a Republican?

In the “viral video” where Cortez explains the “fundamentally broken” US Democracy, damned if she didn’t describe the Clinton and Obama administration perfectly!

Space Cadet you are confusing policy with personality. I am not critiquing AOC’s policies, only the infatuation that growing numbers of people have with her personality. Clinton (the actual ex-presdent), Obama, and Trump were all fascinating figures who captured the public’s imagination until they no longer did. Our general public are a bunch of dumbed down groupies who have largely lost the capacity to think and instead just react to personality. That’s my thesis.

U.S. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez will need organized backing for
calling Trump out that, “he’s scared.” Not because it isn’t true, but
because of ancient wisdom that says: “you should never corner a rat.”
