'An Insanely Bad Move': Experts Sound Alarm as Trump's Nuclear Safety Agency Weighs Rollback of Plant Inspections

GE’s model Mark 12 reactors melt down. We know this. Usually their temperature goes into the stratosphere and then they blow their lids with a steam explosion, as happened in Fukushima. Or, the reactor goes supercritical in the sense that the chain reaction builds upon itself, and then most of the reactor core liquefies and vaporizes, and the lid blows off in a steam explosion, and this also happened with one Fukushima reactor. Then what used to be reactor core condenses in the relative cool of the atmosphere, creating microscopic glassy and radioactive particles that rain down on cities such as downtown Tokyo.

If only there was a party against nuclear disasters… oh wait, there is:

Trump’s planned deregulation sounds like a car owner who sold his car knowing it had questionable brakes.
Damn, somebody has to be a grownup here.

When the time comes that they can no longer lie about nuclear reactors
and the threat to populations in every state – increasingly due to Global
Warming …

they will demand a bail out by the American public –

These reactors need to be shut down now at the expense of the companies
that pushed for them and ran them –

but we will still be left with the WASTE – which there is no way to contain.

That’s already baked in to their deal. When all private insurance companies refused to insure any Nuke plant We The People were forced to.

More proof that Trump is a danger to the american people. The longer he stays in office the more dangerous it is for the american people. Unfortunately the same goes for Pence and Pelosi. They cannot be trusted to represent the best interests of the american people and should never be allowed to serve as president. This guy needs to be checked seriously. Pelosi is not willing to do the job. Who will?

Another great example of “Capitalism” american style.

Apparently capitalism doesn’t always represent the best interests of the public’s health and safety. That could apply to many situations…remember Roundup and Monsanto.

As usual –
The American taxpayer pays the bills –
but has no real way to influence the decisions –
or stop decisions like nuclear reactors.

We were given no tools at the beginning with the Constitution so that
the Founders could secure Elite/Patriarchal control over our people’s
government –

What could be weaker for getting a fascist/criminal out of the White House
than what we have in Impeachment?

reader –

And from what I’ve seen of one Canadian’s posts here –
the world at large is understanding that what’s happening here is
also making things worse for them –

re health care for one thing as the longer they can stall here on nation
health care for all the more time they have to attack health care in Canada
and France, etal – with more and more cuts.

And of course on Trump’s rising fascism here – succeeding so far –
as he preaches his “White Supremacist” message from the White House.

Plus our 100 nuclear reactors here – 2 in every state – there are 500 in
other nations. (There may be better info on that, but that’s my info on it.)

They all require one solid year to shut down properly –
and the WASTE will still be there.

It’s our strange form of socialism for the rich and powerful corporations and capitalism for the poor and working class. What a con job.

Can I copy and paste this on my GFB page…with bbn out your name of course?

Nuclear reactors and their waste will be here for thousands of years. What then? The Northern Pacific Ocean is slowly being poisoned by Fukushima alone, 4 damaged reactors that has eclipsed Chernobyl. It’s only been a few years. What happens when the fish all die or get tumors, becoming inedible? There are several hundred reactors around the world enough to poison us many times over. And they want to decrease inspectors because of funding? How about $100B from the Pentagon? These idiots have no clue what they’ve created or the ultimate risk they pose. Peace
Edit: I feel we may succumb to poisoning before it’s too hot to grow crops.

In an article published in Bloomberg Businessweek on 22 April, 2019, 54 nuclear power plants in Trumpistan are not designed to handle the flood risk they now face. Instead of upgrading plants against flooding, the NRC recommends installing emergency generators and pumps stored in concrete bunkers. In other words, let the industry self regulate potential dangers and the public be damned.

These people don’t care about anyone including themselves. Maybe they are evangelicals who want to bring on the apocolypse. Trump has surrounded himself with corrupt, perverted people who are interested only in self-gain for the moment - the future and our children be damned. I loathe this man and those sycophants he has around him.

"[O]fficial recommendations that include scaling back required inspections to save money"

You mean to offset all those tax cuts to the rich, don’t you?

Maybe there are some but, I cant think of any examples where capitalism represent the best interests of the public’s health and safety. .

A Parliamentary system would be better no doubt. During British colonial rule of India the Indians had no legal recourse to rid themselves of those who presumed to rule over them. Gandhi had the imagination and single mindedness to organize across the many divides among his people. True we have no such leader but we have the tactics that he used.
