Animal Rights Groups Sue Over Unprecedented USDA Website Blackout

Animal Rights Groups Sue Over Unprecedented USDA Website Blackout

Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

Leading animal rights groups sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Monday over the removal of animal welfare records from its website early this month.

This deserves attention. More dastardly acts toward the weakest among us.

While this deletion of public information is bad and expected from the odious trump regime, a far worse atrocity and obscenity from the USDA is the branch named "Wildlife Services" - a part of our government that exists only to slaughter wild animals by the millions annually!! Under the ginger pig's regime this will only get worse!

Under trumps regime of secrecy, exploitation, greed, racism, bigotry and death, we the public will not see info like this: "According to disturbing new data recently made public by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), agents and contractors destroyed over 2.7 million animals in 2014." -

"USDA's Wildlife Services killed 4 million animals in 2013"

"3.2 Million Animals Killed in 2015"

An administration that must hide the facts and truth of its actions from the people must be smashed as soon as humanly possible!

"Nearly 7,400 wild animals were slaughtered every single day on average across the U.S. last year — not by hunters or poachers, but by a government agency whose stated mission is "to resolve wildlife conflicts to allow people and wildlife to coexist."

In addition to wolves, bears, wolverines, foxes, eagles
796 bobcats
61,702 coyotes
305 mountain lions
15,911 prairie dogs
8,971 common ravens
1,001 feral/free-ranging dogs and cats
over 1000 family pets
22,416 beavers
were slaughtered by Wildlife Services, the death agency of the USDA! "many of these animals were cut down by aerial snipers, deadly poisons and traps"

This doesn't include the wild mustangs and burros trying to live in the west - a few thousands when over 5 million livestock are destroying public lands range!

So true; progressives (not to mention the looney right) have exhibited a sad history of silence or outright dismissal when it comes to defending the interests of those nonhumans we use and exploit for various human-centered purposes. In a phrase, the left's moral outlook, centered on securing our (sometimes trivial) interests at the expense of all other creatures as well as the ecosystem that sustains us all, is anthropocentric to the core. Sadly, the outlook rests on a series of false dichotomies -- it's either us or them; either we care about humans or nonhumans; either we act in the interests of people or the planet. The fact is, human rights are (sentient) animal rights.

This is how Trump is giving the government back to the people, censorship.

The trump regimes War on Science is now reality - a clear and present danger - and we all must resist and fight as never before!

The CD piece http://www.commondreams.org/views/2017/02/13/why-id-rather-not-march is apparently not taking comments, but very much should!

The author of that "Why I'd Rather Not March", Adam Frank, quoted "The difficult we do immediately. The impossible takes a little longer." this may be what we face together, standing-up to the ignorance and arrogance of the trump anti-truth/information agenda.

Frank closes with: "The point is simple. Doing a job that is of value to your community and your nation is what makes us great as nation. That's all we American scientists want to do, all day and everyday - do our jobs and we want to do them as best we can!

"That is why I will be marching — even though I'd much rather spend the day doing science, doing my job. There is a lot to discuss about the March for Science and what it means. But the fact that the nation has gotten to this point at all says a lot about what has gone wrong — and just how wrong it has gotten."

The scientific community must be part of the unified resistance to the ignorance and danger trump represents!

Abuse of animals is where the trail of violence begins which we must stop.
Realistically, every human being knows that they wouldn't be slaughtering animals for every meal,
yet they don't want to face that. Nor do they want to face what's being done in slaughter houses
so they can walk into a supermarket and call it "meat."
Something did happen in the Garden of Eden/lab where animal-eating seems to have been introduced.
Yet and always, Eve stands holding the Apple.

All you have to see is the pitiful number of comments on this story. I abhor the hypocrisy of so-called progressives.
