Another Tear Gas Standoff With Police as Water Protectors Defend Sacred Land

Andrea Germanos, staff writer

Water protectors near the Standing Rock Sioux reservation continued to face violence and intimidation on Sunday, with police again firing tear gars as they attempted to defend their sacred ground.

Corporate America gassing it way to profits.

Lets put this in perspective; what is the US governments equivalent sacred site? That would be the cemetery in Arlington, Va. What if the native Americans decided to bulldoze and desecrate those sacred grave sites? And then used tear gas on the protectors of the grave sites!

Why didn't the talibundies get this treatment when they invaded Malheur ?

#6

They lacked the necessary melatonin. Not to mention a historically legitimate claim which underscores what constitutes being a "True American"--racist, murderous, land thief.

Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt hosting a Standing Rock benefit concert. Free for the Water Protectors.
Before the Deluge
Jackson Browne
Some of them were dreamers
And some of them were fools
Who were making plans and thinking of the future
With the energy of the innocent
They were gathering the tools
They would need to make their journey back to nature
While the sand slipped through the opening
And their hands reached for the golden ring
With their hearts they turned to each other's heart for refuge
In the troubled years that came before the deluge
Some of them knew pleasure
And some of them knew pain
And for some of them it was only the moment that mattered
And on the brave and crazy wings of youth
They went flying around in the rain
And their feathers, once so fine, grew torn and tattered
And in the end they traded their tired wings
For the resignation that living brings
And exchanged love's bright and fragile glow
For the glitter and the rouge
And in the moment they were swept before the deluge
Now let the music keep our spirits high
And let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal it's secrets by and by
By and by...
When the light that's lost within us reaches the sky
Some of them were angry
At the way the earth was abused
By the men who learned how to forge her beauty into power
And they struggled to protect her from them
Only to be confused
By the magnitude of her fury in the final hour
And when the sand was gone and the time arrived
In the naked dawn only a few survived
And in attempts to understand a thing so simple and so huge
Believed that they were meant to live after the deluge
Now let the music keep our spirits high
And let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal it's secrets by and by
By and by...
When the light that's lost within us reaches the sky

I believe the corporate controlled state has become vastly more willing to not only attempt to change the consciousness of people, but to employ violence in ways that make people quite fearful and compliant.

#9

I've noticed a parallel here with ISIS destroying antiquities in the Middle East. It's distressing to see either of these sacred sites being turned into trash by activity being sanctioned by those in control in the area, either out of control rebels, or out of control contractors protected by government paramilitary forces. The US government needs to represent those being harmed by the destruction of their ancestral lands, not those private corporations claiming property stolen by imminent domain.

When will the foolish state government realize that it has already lost this war? Sure it may win a few battles but the war has been lost for very good reason!

The indigenous people/nations have sovereign treaty rights.

If the U.S. government ignores its treaty obligations,
and the laws pertaining to cultural rights and environmental studies
required for pipeline construction, then we have no government
-- only a corporate dictatorship run by puppet politicians.

BTW, re: those un-licensed security guards with the attack dogs,
-- any charges brought against them or their rent-a-cop agency?
