Are Climate-Related 'Hot Blobs' Spreading and Killing Marine Life Worldwide?

Nika Knight, staff writer

A massive swath of hot water off the West Coast of North America devastated marine life for years—killing sea lions, whales, starfish, birds, and more—and new research finds that such marine heatwaves are growing more and more frequent.

The comment section says, Be the first to comment. But jesus, who can say any thing? We have wreaked our planet. A whole planet! Dear God.

Arithmetic, Population and Energy

Understanding the arithmetic of the Exponential Function

or Exponential Function for dummies like me- even I can grasp this elegant lesson.

Nothing could be more poignant in reflecting the disgrace of predatory capitalism's impact on sacred life; the generator/mother of all life is being violated on all fronts, a rape with consequences quite beyond our myopic expectations.

There ya go.... you just about said it all.. what can one say about such an ...event.

Let's not forget about the 3 melted down nuke plants, Fukushima, Japan, that have been pouring radiation into the Pacific ocean, 24/7 since March 2011. Lots of problems in the Pacific.

#7

Slezak put it more simply: "Plague, famine, pestilence, and death was sweeping the northern Pacific Ocean between 2014 and 2015."
The hubris and root of the problem is the thinking that we are somehow immune to the above, existing somewhere outside of nature protected in our new digital reality.
The truth is that these systems are so complex and interconnected that science will never be able to calculate the full impact of these changes until after they happen. The possibility of runaway global warming is seemingly ever more real and present, once those methane hydrates start releasing into the atmosphere in large quantities, as they already are in Siberia, things will start accelerating in a very bad way.

Methane warms the planet on steroids for about a decade or two before decaying to CO2. In those short decades Methane warms the planet by 86 times as much as CO2. ( Scientific American,12/22/2015.) Correct Any Mouse, things will start accelerating in a very bad way. Also, a Porter Ranch underground natural gas storage facillty leaked 100,000 tons of Methane over a 4 month period began in 10/2015, largest Methane leak in US history ( LA Times, 8/15/2016).

One specific thing to lay responsibility on would be the Judeo-Christian Holy Bible, specifically Genesis 1.26-28 which proclaims that humans have "dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

The Old Testament used to justify human atrocities for centuries!

Just Phucking great. Hot blobs!

As if we didn't have a bad enough challenge ahead of us all ready. But more likely, ongoing massive Fukushima radiation now loitering off the West Coast is to blame.

New form floats, does not sink

When sea water contacts corium a new form of radionuclide is formed,
commonly known as bucky balls. The corium cores are underground within
the brackish/seawater zone under the plant. This new form is being
constantly created by seawater (sodium) reacting with the corium and is
carried by tidial and hydrodynamic pressure into the sea. And it floats,
is very light, containing a wide variety of isotopes. When dried, it
travels aloft, carried by winds – airborne inland. The chemical
properties and behavior of this new particle are unknown to chemists
educated in old school pre 311 knowledge. A new book will have to be
written about this new material, buckeys are unsinkable and travels in
the upper layer, on the surface of the ocean, like Styrofoam.

""And marine life in this sea of tomorrow will look very different."

Yes, it seems as if it could well look dead.

Bad News. We are now over one degree above baseline. At two above baseline, all the wheat starts dying and we have global famine.

Watch this good flick to see what happens (in 2011 knowledge):

Anymouse, I think the real hubris and root of the problem is genesis 1 where yahway tells his people to multiply and subdue the Earth. Bloody, selfish ireligion, it succeeded beyond its wildest nightmares.

Anymouse---ops, sorry. I didn't see StiffUpper's great quote before commenting.
