The Palestinians have for decades elected terrible leaders, from Arafat (who stole billions of dollars) to Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. Both Hamas and the PA were elected to a 4-year-term 12 years ago because they’ve refused to hold new elections. Hamas has killed off many of its political opponents and it and the PA have been feuding over power and money for years. But they’re always ready to blame Israel for their problems. And most people don’t realize that various Muslim countries housing Palestinians have deliberately kept them in camps in terrible conditions rather than absorb them into the general population. Even Gaza has a refugee camp.

Also, the author does not explain that the Palestinian aim is not a two-state solution but a one-state solution whereby Israel is destroyed and the Jews either killed or expelled. These aims are both written and stated verbally and there’s plenty of proof of it.

The entire situation is complex and there is a ton of historical fact regarding the many attempts to solve it. I think any article about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict needs to have that historical perspective for balance.

It would certainly help if more Americans were informed about the daily reality of life for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and east Jerusalem. But most U.S. media, including PBS, never even mentions the Nakba, and presents a mostly Israeli-Zionist view of the interminable conflict.

I strongly recommend these two books to everyone who wants to be better informed:

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe

Against Our Better Judgment: How the U.S. was used to create Israel by Alison Weir, head of the online site If Americans Knew: What every American needs to know about Israel-Palestine

Here’s a historical perspective beyond Israeli propaganda on what some term the Israeli-Palestinian “conflict” - ~https://ifamericansknew.org/history/origin.html
the racist, supremacist, ethnic cleansing of Palestine and illegal colonization of the Occupied Territories taken by force in a premeditated act of war in 1967.by Israeli Zionist terrorists (culminating in the 1948 expulsions, racist ethnic cleansing and over 450 village demolitions by the Irgun, Stern Gang, and other terrorist groups (including their war crime attack on the USS Liberty, covered-up to this day)
Historical myth, racist narrative, and massive propaganda and political manipulation of accurate history (read falsification) - the wholesale subversion of nations sovereignty, especially the US.

Zionism is not racism. Zionism calls for the Jewish people to have their own country, so they chose to return to their historic homeland (where Jews still lived, by the way). It’s like saying the descendants of Armenians, who fled Turkish massacres a hundred years ago and who go back to Armenia, are guilty of racism.

As for the Jewish lobby, you know there is an Arab lobby too, don’t you? Why aren’t you upset about that?

And BDS is not about stopping Israeli influence. It’s about destroying Israel and getting rid of all the Jews. The BDS movement denies the right of Israel to exist. And it claims only Palestinians have the right to return, not Jews. They and much of the Muslim world even claim Jews never lived in the area and that Jewish archeological sites are hoaxes.

I could also list all of the anti-Jewish laws apartheid laws in Muslim countries, but I bet you don’t care about that.

Palestinian Lives Matter! As does the institutionalized racism inherent to the Israeli state, yesterday and today!
The subversion of US foreign policy is a threat; a subversion many American politicians kowtow to as good lap-dogs catering to Israeli extremism, racism, and warmongering at our nations great expense in money, lives, loss of respect (what we ever had) around the world, and the annual vig - multi-billions over $5 Billions annually, (much hidden and uncounted, or as forgiven “loans”) extorted by Israel and its treasonous supporters in the US - stolen from our people’s needs (and poor nations foreign-aid)!

Albert Einstein, among many influential Jews, went on record as opposing the creation of the state of Israel.

If there were a great many Jews claiming residence Muslim countries, that might be an issue.

But there aren’t, are there?

Before Israel became a nation, the majority of people dwelling in the region were Palestinians - Arabs who lived in what was then known as Palestine. If nothing else there is a historical right for them to be there.
Can we please stop the conflict and the land grabbing by the state of Israel…

Your namesake/handle must be, ariel sharon, the Butcher of Beirut, named for for the massacre at Sabra and Shatila. he also had a prominent role in the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty that killed or wounded over 200 American sailors, covered-up to this day. He was a war criminal and terrorist.
The massacre at Deir Yassin and clearing and destroying over 450 Palestinian villages by terrorist groups so “there would be no place to come home to” is representative of the mass expulsions and ethnic cleansing by Zionist forces
That sharon name suits you well as a propagandist and mouthpiece for and defender of Israeli-Zionist racist ethnic cleansing, war crimes and atrocities over a century more or less, and the false history, mythology and “facts” about the Israeli Occupation…
The AIPAC lobby is a treasonous subversion of US sovereignty by Israel and its agenda of total expulsion of the Palestinian people>

There are approx. 20.000 Jews living in Iran (!), the largest Jewish community in the Mideast outside Israel. They feel safe and respected, according to a USA Today report.

‘Israel’ was carved out of Palestine. You seem to be blaming the victim.

But, you are probably an Israeli agent, or even a ‘bot’. Nevertheless, other readers of your post need to see that your argument is illogical. If someone took over your ancestral land, wouldn’t you blame them for doing so?

You are correct, however, when you say Palestinians shouldn’t only blame Israel. They should also blame the countries that allowed a violent European Zionist movement the facade of legitimacy after WWII. Do you honestly think the Zionists would simply have gone back to Europe before then if they were asked? Will they go, now?

The Palestinians should also blame the United Nations and the World Court for not doing their job.
