Love to Ocasio-Cortez.

Most of all we need to unrig the system.

Nancy, Chuck embrace the enthusiasm, the revitalization, the ideas. Don’t fight them…if you want to survive and thrive politically. It’s okay to share power.

Reality check: Corporate money backs corporate Democrats, corporate Democrats control the party.

AO-C is an aberration, an outlier. Status quo Dems who suck up to corporate power will remain the driving force in the party. Right-of-center ‘moderates’ like Lrx will be thrilled. And you suckers who believe that 2018 is the year you start reforming the D-Party from within will look like fools.

Again.

In a nutshell that’s why the Dems lost the 2016 Presidential election (along with a horrible candidate) and have been losing state houses and governorships too. To this day I still believe that if Sanders had the Dem nomination he would have beaten Trump handily.

I too think that all is lost in this country and we are now a modern Fascist state. BUT, I still have to hope without it we all should just fall down and die.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t seem to understand the Democratic Party is a collection of groups with different interests. The Republicans are a more homogeneous party and have an overall ideology. Whatever the Democratic used to be, and it was a party that was based on large union support, it is not the party now and cannot transform backwards into what it used to be unless it is again based on labor union support. She is arguing for a lost cause. She instead look at the diverse components of the party and word to bring them together which isn’t east. Yes about perhaps 10-20% of the party is anti-corporate anti-Wall Street but most of the party isn’t. The danger of what she is doing is tearing the party more apart which is what the Russians are trying to accomplish. The fractures in the Democratic Party are real but the Russians are exploiting these fractures such as they exploit other divisions between Americans. The more the Democrats are fractured the better chance the right has of winning elections and establishing an autocratic government. The Democrats in the end need to stay together whatever it takes.

Shouldn’t it be “Cynic Tank”?

I think Ocasio-Cortez knows what she’s doing, and she’s doing it well. I am in the district where our congressperson was the only one to vote no on the AUMF, abandoned by her colleagues, even the socialist one, though I believe he and many others agreed with her. It doesn’t have to be that way. If only 20% of the American people support socialism, as you suggest, let’s at least get those 20% some representation.

I Read your stuff often and most of it you need to keep voting for corporate democrats. Corporate democrats are the problem. They all vote for endless war.

https://www.nationalpriorities.org/ go here you might learn a few things

The democratic party rigged the election against Sanders. I know you were all for Hillary.

If the Dems want to win, they need to get smart and realize the people want new young progressive blood. The Pelosi’s and Schumer’s need to step down! If they dont get with the new deal, they will lose just like Clinton, who could give a crap about the pepple’s needs! Their time is over!

#13

I literally rolled my eyes when I read this.

“MA! MA! There’s a Russian under my bed!”

#14

Tell us, oh oracle of the DLC, exactly what has the Democratic Party gained under the leadership of the corporate/Clinton wing?
34 states control by the GOP
The federal appellate court system
The SCOTUS
The House
The Senate
The White House
And over 1000 (and counting) state house seats.
So why should anyone take anything you say seriously?

#15

“Again” - Exactly! When will the Dem base figure that out?

#16

I’m certain the Dem base will never figure it out.

That’s why a couple million more of us need to leave the Dem base.

#17

Would those progressive priorities include dismantling the US empire?

#19

"We need to realize the consciousness of the Democratic Party."AO-C

As long as Dim progressives fail to “realize” that U.S. capitalist imperialism and the most powerful, most destructive, most expensive killing machine in the history of humanity are what drive USA Inc, they are not an alternative to or change agent in the Dim Party.

Global imperialism guarantees domestic failure and austerity. There’s no way around it.

From her campaign website under “Peace Economy”

Since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, the United States has entangled itself in war and occupation throughout the Middle East and North Africa. As of 2018, we are currently involved in military action in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia. Hundreds of thousands of civilians in these countries have been killed either as collateral damage from American strikes or from the instability caused by U.S. interventions. Millions more have fled their broken countries, contributing to the global refugee crisis.

This continued action damages America’s legitimacy as a force for good, creates new generations of potential terrorists, and erodes American prosperity. In times when we’re told that there’s not enough money, Republicans and corporate Democrats seem to find the cash to fund a $1.1 trillion fighter jet program or a $1.7 trillion-dollar nuclear weapon “modernization” program. The costs are extreme: the Pentagon’s budget for 2018 is $700 billion dollars, all to continue fighting an endless War on Terror and re-fighting the Cold War with a new arms race that nobody can win.

According to the Constitution, the right to declare war belongs to the legislative body, and yet many of these global acts of aggression have never once been voted on by Congress. In some cases, we’ve even acted unilaterally, without the backing of the United Nations.

America should not be in the business of destabilizing countries. While we may see ourselves as liberators, the world increasingly views us as occupiers and aggressors. Alexandria believes that we must end the “forever war” by bringing our troops home, and ending the air strikes that perpetuate the cycle of terrorism throughout the world.

By bringing our troops home, we can begin to heal the wounds we’re opening by continuing military engagement. We can begin to repair our image. We can reunite military families, separated by repeated deployments. We can become stronger by building stronger diplomatic and economic ties, and by saving our armed forces only for when they’re truly needed.

Why don’t you hang out with your own kind on some right wing blog. You aren’t very convincing with your foolish ideas. Most progressives are here to CHANGE our corrupt system, not embrace it.
