As Mining Giant Flails, Human Toll from Brazil Dam Disaster Ticks Up

Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

While business reporting zooms in on the financial implications of last week's deadly dam burst in Brazil—a toxic breach being called the "largest-ever spill of its kind"—survivors and rescuers continue to tally up the human and ecological costs and search for those who are still missing.

There are currently 28 people missing and three have been confirmed dead.

Most likely, the company cut costs and didn't construct the dam properly,
and the government inspectors didn't do a proper job of inspecting
for possible failure.
If so, another case of ''profits before people.''

A prime example of how deregulating business works. It doesn't, never has, never will. If businesses could be trusted to act faithfully on their own, then no one would have ever gotten the idea of having government regulations in the first place. Just telling people murdering is bad doesn't stop people from committing murders. Murderers must be brought to justice.
