As Teacher Revolt Sweeps Nation, Democrats Propose Clawing Back Tax Cut for 1% to Fund $50 Billion Boost to Schools

Julia Conley, staff writer

On the heels of protests across the nation over low pay for teachers and states' prioritization of corporate tax cuts over investing in schools, Democratic lawmakers joined with national education leaders on Tuesday to unveil a proposal aimed at restoring the nation's schools and boosting teacher pay by repealing Republican tax giveaways to the richest one percent.

I’m reminded of a classic bumper sticker:

“When the people lead, eventually the leaders will follow.”

I have one better. How about eliminating the tax cut all together. Then we cut the military budget by three quarters…still leaving us number one in military spending. Then we have free schools from elementary through college, with enough money left over to feed all the worlds hungry, shelter the worlds homeless, and deal with climate change. How’s that sound?

Sounds like a wienerschnitzel!

Thanks for your valued input.

Great, just add free healthcare to you’re plan and were good.

The democrats don’t care about any of these issues. They’re just as complicit as the repugnants.

Zero Democrats in the House and Senate voted for the Trump tax cuts. Twelve (1 independent) voted for the stupid bank bill. Neither would become law if Democrats held one of either or both houses of Congress.

Sounds like you are a bloody communist, or whatever they are calling rationally thinking people nowadays.
