Banana republic indeed.

– DECISION 2020 –
How will you choose?

Fast descent or slow descent into dystopia.

Heaven help us.

How nice it would be to see the military escort his orange ass out of the Office and into a jail cell.

Why would the military not support Trump?..Trump is giving them plenty of financial support.

Now it’s pretty much out in the open for the whole world to see, isn’t it? And still some dim nihilistic souls haunt the Commons, losing sight of the cliff’s edge immediately ahead. You’d think they’d be embarrassed to look like minions of the dictator today, but that’s not as pertinent to them as the culpability of Dims in leading us to this precipice – as if it’s inevitable now, and we might as well entirely submit to tyranny. That’s what some comments in here sound like to me, these days.

I’m worried about the personnel in here, in the Commons. The military has all kinds. Orangeman has made many enemies there – especially in the Navy. On the other hand, Boogaloo insurgent assassins (such as Air Force Staff Sgt. Steven Carrillo, from Travis AFB around here) have surfaced from active duty personnel, moonlighting as domestic race-war terrorists. Could be a fight ahead.

Supposedly, the military is apolitical, following orders from the CNC as per the normal chain of command. Having mass resignations will not stop anything. It will look pretty, but, just as with Nixon’s “Saturday night massacre,” Trump will simply go down the command flow chart, firing one after another until he finds his Robert Bork and company who will follow his orders. There will be some officers who believe in Dear Leader, and they will be happy to take the reins if they are handed them. The military will not take it upon themselves to “save the republic.” They don’t see that as their job.

Either way it will probably be dystopia.

FUCK the military. This instrument of genocide needs to be kept out of involvement with supporting governments, regardless. If the military steps in to put Biden in place, the US military will be an arm of the executive. They won’t get out without a fight.

If Trump needs to be removed from office, it must be the people who remove him.

The Insurrection Act 1807 enabled President Lincoln to deploy troops on a war footing with the aim of preventing the states seceding (unconstitutionally) from doing so. More here: +ttps://www.history.com/news/insurrection-act-thomas-jefferson-aaron-burr

Who here would (or would not) support President Biden from doing the same if ‘red’* states refused to accept his authority and claimed that Trump was still their ‘president’ .

*Only in a polity as backward as the U.S. can conservative and reactionary political groupings score 'red as their color. (I know it originates from a clueless TV graphics dept.)

Officers who pay lip service to their oaths to support and defend the Constitution cannot have the luxury of resigning in the face of a coup d’etat without being subject to the time-honored military evaluation “chickenshit.”

Assuming some ambitous traitors does not see an opportunity for personal advancement, I would imagine the US army will be on the same side they have always been on, that of the oligarchy.
Trump, president or not, was born into that oligarchy and is therefore unlikely to be removed unless the rest of America’s owners wants it.
He may be a retard, but he is still a “blueblood”.

Milley said, ‘I will not follow an unlawful order.’"
He will not be fired nor resign.

Army and Marines will not get involved in disputed election.
The courts and congress handle that plus the 50 states themselves.

“Senior leaders at the Pentagon, speaking on the condition of anonymity”

How many of these “Senior” (rank or age) leaders are there at the Pentagon? Just curious.

Why does an army sargeant, married with one child, eligible for SNAP, food stamps??

a few generations ago.
Little old ladies in an Alabama county marched for the right to vote.
They had never been allowed.
It was at 8 AM, beautiful Saturday morning.
The kkk sheriff’s deputees were on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse.
They had sidearms.
The U.S. army was there. I saw two sharpshooters on the store roofs at both the east and west sides of the courthouse. One story and two story stores. Sure there were more above me facing the courthouse.

Across from the deppittees was a monster weapon, aimed right at deputies. It was positioned on the cab over of a five ton dump truck. About 11 feet above pavement.

So, the ;ladies walked pass, unbothered, and the army left within ten minutes.
We did the right thing then and will do it again over the next 4 months of mayhem.

The first use of red for Republicans according to ~https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states was by the Washington Post in 1908 (note: Wikipedia stays with Red for Republican way before this, all the way to 1856 when the first one ran for President and lost - but of course these maps weren’t generated at the time).

What TV usage are you referring to? Is that considered a start to the more uniform practice we do today? Just because the first use of R = Red, D = Blue was pre-TV that doesn’t mean that TV didn’t solidify it - I just need a reference.

Integrity? Patriotism? Common Sense? I could go on, but you should get the idea by now.

“Why would the military not support Trump?..Trump is giving them plenty of financial support.”

Wrong in two ways. First, trump has been very disrespectful of the military, which you seem to be unaware of. Where have you been the past month? Guess you didn’t get the memo on trump’s words about vets who died fighting in WWI (“suckers and losers”) or the reason why he didn’t want to go to the graveyard in the first place…didn’t want to risk getting that precious hairdo wet. Now wouldn’t that have been a sight…trump with his hair all down and wet, exposing his bald head for all to see.

Second, the budget increases go to defense contractors…you know, that welfare-for-the-rich program run out of the Pentagon. Although the pay raises given to the military under the trump administration have been more generous than under the last years of the Obama administration, it isn’t like anyone’s going to get rich on 2-3%, which is pretty much what we got most years during my 20 years active duty.
