After AT&T announced its plans last Saturday to take over Time Warner in a multi-bazillion-dollar merger, a strange thing happened. Well, a bunch of strange things.

First, Donald Trump unexpectedly blasted the merger, saying it was “a deal we will not approve in my administration because it’s too much concentration of power in the hands of too few.”


Excellent Craig Aaron, thank you. I live in what used to be Pacific Bell's service area and I always thought they were the best managed of the "Baby Bells." Since that break-up service has steadily become less local in terms of quality and less responsible in terms of local input. Big Corporate efficiency is the opposite of local needs, it seems...


More to the point: Vertical integration is the quickest way to monopolize an industry.
