Backing Teachers, Sanders Says LA Strike Exposes National Need for 'Revolution in Public Education'

Jessica Corbett, staff writer

Tens of thousands of public school teachers and support staff continued to strike on Thursday over unmet demands for higher payer; smaller class sizes; more special education staff, bilingual education instructors, nurses, counselors, and librarians; and stricter regulation of the city's many charter schools.

PLUS, it’s reported that 99% of the charter schools are religious.
Why are taxpayers paying for other people’s children to pray?

The money taken from public schools is seriously destroying the ability of communities
and taxpayers/home owners to continue to afford descent educations for their children.

From what I recall of organized patriarchal religions – male-supremacist religion – we
are funding the Catholic Church’s “faith-based” organizations since the days of “W” when
he also created an organization embedded in the White House to serve those interests!!

WHY in the hell are taxpayers funding male-dominated relations in the US with tax-exemptions?

An alleged democracy should not be funding male-dominated anything if it truly stands for equality
for all. Good basis for an ACLU lawsuit (imo).

Teachers are strong. What the liberal candidates are doing strikingly differently this year is to campaign on issues of substance, rather than broad, erasable strokes. This is good! This is great! Let the personalities rise and fade, and install the issues of positive change.
If Bernie comes out with the best crowds and a proven agenda, he is our candidate.
