Ban Sought on Commercial Trapping of Wild Turtles in Missouri

Jefferson City, Mo. - The Center for Biological Diversity and Great Rivers Environmental Law Center petitioned the Missouri Department of Conservation today to end commercial collection of the state’s wild freshwater turtles. Turtle traders can now legally collect unlimited numbers of common snapping and softshell turtles to sell domestically or export for Asian food and medicinal markets.

Predators maintain the balance in nature. How have you avoided learning that fact??

The exception might be invasive species though. Species that continue to eat, defecate, and reproduce until there is nothing left and they die off. What is a better invasive species than the human?
