Begging for War

Begging for War

Robert C. Koehler

"There are no good options," Brian Williams said the other night on MSNBC, launching a discussion about North Korea with the implication that war—maybe nuclear war—is the only solution to the problem it represents.

We've been cradling our own suicide for seven decades. The baby's eyes open...

"And the United States is not Donald Trump. "

Damn right we’re not. And wouldn’t want to be either. Not for all his money, his trophy wife, his ever diminishing power.

He’s just a temporary employee who’s abused the power given him .

The United States has many problems, Empire being top of the list.

It’s kinda like those old westerns, where all the young upstarts come looking to out shoot to gunslinger in town, the United States being that gunslinger because of all the Death and Suffering we have wrought on this World.

It’s US that’s Begging for War, killing innocents in Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan.

Can’t everyone see this?

Excellent piece; thank you.

“the United States is not Donald Trump. Our collective consciousness is bigger than that of a bully” Unfortunately our leaders and military, including Obama and Bush are bullies and have acted as such towards North Korea.
Generally the collective ‘we’ of the US follows the bully mentality. Read the comments from the cited WaPo article. Almost to a person they blame NK and think the peace loving US is protecting SK. It would be embarrassing if it weren’t so tiresome.
Am I alone wishing someone would stand up to the US, sanction the US? Stop us please!

“Our collective consciousness is bigger than that of a bully.” True, but unfortunately our collective consciousness has no role in US foreign policy, which is run by bullies. And the US bears a hugely disproportionate responsibility for the spread of nuclear weapons around the world, since it created them, and then refused to negotiate in good faith with Russia to completely eradicate them. And, by its imperialistic behavior, it has done much to cause the spread of nuclear weapons. Indeed, North Korea would likely not even have developed nuclear weapons were it not for the continual threat of military aggression from the US, whose dear leaders murdered one-third of its people in the 1950s.

Play Chicken ePie September 7th, 2017

The chicken hawks play chicken
the end game of deter

paid for with your compliance
the limp and listless left or alternates
whose movements are the cast off wordy crap

it’s greed that roots for ‘Arma greed on’
the greed that’s great for huddled masses
cowering to the POTUS KKK
the reason why we pay pay pay

so lets’ play chicken with the football
lets’ play chicken in the fall

Kim & Donald know the game of tit for tat
and the General’s like the fall

Whom is begging for war?
CNN, MSNBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC.

#8

Yes! The delicious aroma of “regime change” wafts through the air, and they almost wet themselves in delight and anticipation. SSDD!

#9

And the Military contractors.

#10

The US has resisted attacking North Korea because China and Russia oppose any such action. To me it’s a question of Americas supposed military superiority and if it still exists. Events like the USS Donald Cook, the ship collisions and the pullback from Syria might indicate otherwise. Nuclear war or bust?

Who do you expect to see this?
Those in other countries who are as exceptional and delusional as our exceptionals and delusionals?
Those who have suffered at the hands of our bombing and militarism?
Those who suffered as direct consequence of our trade policies?
Those who been in the wake of our Oil wells and rapacious mining practices?
Those who consume our porn and other tv ?
Those that have been led that they can instantly have a millionaire’s lifestyle if they only migrate to the US?

I would say a very small percentage of the world sees this.

#12

“Who do you expect to see this?”

How about, anyone with an intellect.

Do you believe the masses have all lost their ability to reason?

#13

Aah yes.
Reason and Intellect.
Yes, I am sure everyone who knows they have those two qualities ascribed to themselves can see it.
Those who give themselves the qualifications are many, those who are given those qualities by others are few.
I think you are aiming for the latter demographic.
Less than 1% of the population, in my estimation?
I am sure they see it.

#14

Okie-dokie. Ask 10 to 20 people if they can see this.

Extrapolate your percentage from there.

1%, huh?

You don’t think much of your fellow humans, do you?

#15

I never Know enough.
I do watch elections around the planet, and see who has been gaining power in Hungary, India, Phillipines…

I have seen people that showed some resolve towards a cause turn on a dime when the politicians favorably address their ethnocentric demographic.

I have little faith, is all I am saying.

we cannot change how the frightened and delusional imperial forces think and act. they put their faith in fiat dollars, a human construct with no intrinsic value. i do believe our first step is to become the calm in the middle of the storm. for as long as we give in to the fear and anger swirling around us, we are vulnerable to the chaos and unable to act in a positive and constructive manner.

step one:

Imagine
John Lennon, Plastic Ono Band

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky

Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too

Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need…
