Bernie Sanders Has Heard Enough: 'We Cannot Have an Ally Who Murders a Dissident in Cold Blood'

Bernie Sanders Has Heard Enough: 'We Cannot Have an Ally Who Murders a Dissident in Cold Blood'

Jon Queally, staff writer

While the fact remains that the United States has long had and maintained such allies—staunchly defending them from international rebuke and shielding them from prosecution—Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says the alleged murder and brutal dismemberment of journalist Jamal Khashoggi by his own Saudi government and ongoing war crimes in Yemen should be the final straws in allowing the powerful Gulf monarchy to claim the U.S. as a friend and partner.

I’m with Bernie on this. If Republicans want to be Pro-Murder, let them choke on it.

Bernie has had enough.

I’m sure that’ll hit Trump’s radar screen.

Bernie, go tell it on the mountain.

Yes, Bernie blew it with the true believers in real progressive change and democracy by bowing to her highness, HRC and the DNC establishment. He is right that if we want to even pretend to care about freedom of speech, press and democracy (which we really don’t as a government), we have to break ties with the criminal thugs who call themselves “royal” in Saudi Arabia. The “House” of Saud must fall.

I have repeatedly called for a world-wide, sanctioned total embargo and blockade of Saudi Arabia until the government falls, taken down by their own people. Nothing in, nothing out, people, goods, or money, physical or electronic. Anything that tries, dies. Shot down, or sunk. It’s about time we use those drone missiles to do something good for the world. The entire “royal” mafia-like crime family, over 1,000 of them, deserve to be executed for what they have done to the country for the past 80 years. Them and the Midieval Wahabi clergy who keep them in power. They are the real terrorists in the region, spreading far, far-right superstitious nonsensical fanaticism.

Exactly Dan, the heads of state around the world see this as naivety. They (we) have all done this at one time or another. No saints in the room here.

The US Military has been slaughtering innoccent people abroad for decades. Yemen, Libya , Syria, Iraq, Aghanistan and just a small handful of countries where the US Military meddles murders and creates mayhem. This has always done with cooperation of the Saudis or the Israeli State.

Being “troubled” by what alliances the US chooses to enter into and the wars the US chooses to commit does not cut it. That it took the killing of a Journalist for Mr Sanders to become “troubled” after all those school bus bombings, after iraq and Libya ruined, after Barack Obama started assassinating US Citizens abroad, after the Palestinians on the Gaza strip murder and children in Gaza shelled by Israeli ships as they played soccer is a little bit late.

I am not certain as to why, in light of all those crimes that have been committed over the past decades , that Mr Sanders belives the killing of a Journalist "the Final Straw’. Why the silence on the first and second and third and ten thousandth straw? Was the lives of those thousands and hundreds of thousands and more killed previously somehow of less value?

Some people “had enough” of this stuff 50 years ago and more when we were children listening to the speeches of Martin Luther King.

One is either anti-war and or one is not. One is for the cause of human rights and justice or one is not. There no sitting on the fence here implicitly accepting all of that slaughter and those crimes and only getting outraged at “a final straw”.

Sure we can. Our police state murders people in and out of their custody, frequently. No big deal.

And, the CIA killed Kennedy; the FBI killed MLK. No big deal.

What was Bernie to do at that point, sit it out and pout, or join forces with Clinton to assure Trump would never sleep in the Lincoln bedroom?

Amen. Been fighting or writing since 1980-ish.

The Saudis were allies of the Unites States of America and committing the same crimes whehn Obama President and Ms Clinton Secretary of State. You do remember her cackling at the death of Qaddaffi and the ruination of the richest Country in Africa?

Why on Earth would any person of conscience choose as an ally the Saudi’s and why on Earth would any person of conscience choose Hilary Clinton as an ally?

And, just how well did that word out? – Take her to fu(king court; throw the election into a tizzy; and, lay the whole thing out for the world to see…that’s what he was to do at that point, if he had any balls…which he doesn’t…and, never has…

How did Trump work out for you?

On the war front?..not so bad, so far. Much better than what Clinton would have initiated. And, that was my main concern.

On the domestic front? …couldn’t be worse. Time to vote him out of office in 2020…actually I’d like to see him impeached sooner, for violations of the Emoluments Clause. But, who are we going to get from the Dems? Biden? He’s also a neoliberal warmonger a$$hole.

Bernie should be? More like won’t be! Bernie is very clever at progressive rhetoric. Bernie has been and is being used by the democratic party as a shill. Bernie says he is a Socialist. WHAT A CROCK! Bernie sold out to the DNC, he is a socialist?

If anyone enabled Trump to become POTUS, I would blame Bernie selling out to the democratic, elite in Philly. Bernie: " WE NEED TO BACK HRC BECAUSE WE CANNOT ALLOW TRUMP TO BECOME PRESIDENT."

Bernie reminds me of a slick, used car salesman that tells you what you want to hear in order to sell you a bad car!

“sit it out and pout” ???
No, he should have taken his supporters, taken up Stein’s offer, and won the election with her. We wouldn’t have the nightmare with Trump and he could have proven that someone besides an R or D could win an election, proving to many brainwashed dems that it can be done.

We have a number of wimpy, and overcautious dem’s of the past. Gore didn’t fight to the end, and Obama let everyone walk all over him, and Bernie certainly could have made a better case. I wasn’t aware of the Bernie/Stein offer being a serious one. But yes, that would have worked for me.

The Middle Eastern publication, Asharq al Awsat, through the site NewsNow, is reporting the alarming news that potent, effective naval mines are being planted in the Red Sea, near Yemen, by Yemeni resistance forces. Therefore, we should expect disabling attacks against oil tankers, Destroyers and landing craft used in the invasion of Yemen by an ‘Arab’ Coalition of authoritarians with the collaboration of Western ‘democratic’ corporate states. Events in the region do provide a dangerous immediate context for the inevitable deployment potent, effective naval mines off the coast of Yemen, and in the sea lanes of the Red Sea, at least. The murderous fate of newsman, Jamal Khashoggi, as ‘an enemy of the people’ recalls an oft-spoken remark, “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” The militarization/mobilization of the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, adjacent region; a global sanctions blockade of Iranian finance and commerce; combined with the criminal, atrocity-ridden invasion of Yemen; all bethink an historic Rhythm. The Rhyme has also appeared before, at another assassination in 1914.,Saudi Arabia is about to become just Arabia. Declare a ceasefire in Yemen, soon.

I am really sick and tired of all the perfectionists here on commondreams screaming about Bernie the man who loudly stands up for we the people. Bernie isn’t perfect but you all will never find a perfect candidate that speaks for all of us and our diverse opinions.
