We have been left to contend unaided against an intimidatingly large cadre of governmental officials for whom truth must be both convenient and malleable. I am shocked, no, make that stunned, that there is no way out of this obvious coup but to endure it. If I believed endurence would bring us through somehow merely wounded and not dying, I might not be so unsettled. But a diabolical genie has been loosed from the bottle. This is no simple trial we must endure. We are about to experience an existential threat to everything ethical American democracy promises.
