Bipartisan EPA Alums Urge Senate to Reject Pruitt's "Troubling" Nomination

On Monday, 13 former heads of state environmental bureaus sent a letter to senate leaders, urging them to reject Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt's nomination as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) chief.

There is that inconvenient truth thing again. Just doesn't go away despite the best efforts of the Republicans.

We have been left to contend unaided against an intimidatingly large cadre of governmental officials for whom truth must be both convenient and malleable. I am shocked, no, make that stunned, that there is no way out of this obvious coup but to endure it. If I believed endurence would bring us through somehow merely wounded and not dying, I might not be so unsettled. But a diabolical genie has been loosed from the bottle. This is no simple trial we must endure. We are about to experience an existential threat to everything ethical American democracy promises.
