CAIR Demands Apology from Donald Trump for Disparagement of Muslim Gold Star Family

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)

WASHINGTON - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today demanded that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump apologize for disparaging the parents of a Muslim who died while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq.

[NOTE: CAIR today also joined a #CanYouHearUsNow social media campaign by Muslim women activists challenging Trump’s Islamophobic remarks. See below.]

This should be a non-issue but the media will not let go. Radical
Islam is a danger to us all. So far the attacks in this country have
been attributed to home grown jihadists. With hundreds of thousands of
refuges out of Syria and adjoining areas, ISIS will exploit this
opportunity to slide organized jihadists into the U.S. as refugees.
Anyone who wants to reduce terrorism in the U.S. would want to be very
careful about who is permitted to immigrate here from ISIS affected
areas. Trump was calling for a temporary stop to immigration from these
areas until we can be as sure as possible that the immigration does not
include organized jihadists. Organized jihadists will go after our
electric power grid because it is so important and so vulnerable.
Unfortunately the people that suffer most because of jihadists are the
decent peace loving Muslims. But the fact remains that we are not
concerned at this time about radical Catholics or radical Presbyterians
or radical Jews or radical Buddists or radical Hindus. We have to be
careful and use due process. This is all that Trump was saying but the
media will not let go.
