WASHINGTON - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will join with MPower Change and the The Sikh Coalition to launch a "Twitterstorm" urging the Switzerland-based International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to permanently lift the ban on athletes wearing religious attire when it issues a final decision on its head-covering policy later this month.
One would hope that religious apparel restriction would apply to all religions or to none. That we are having this discussion means the distinction and restictions are applicable to some only. The difficulties presented would this be made to apply across the board, simply boggle the mind as there are a great many and very different religious symbols and, unless one were an expert, (And how many who would enforce such a ban are? there would be an uneven application and only those famiiiar enough would be stopped.
