California's "Monster" Gas Leak Was Largest in US History, Study Shows

Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

The Aliso Canyon natural gas well blowout, which lasted for months and sickened scores of nearby residents, has been confirmed as the largest methane leak in history.

While this might have been the single largest leak from a given source , the fact is that each and every day that much and more gas is leaked from other sources. These include from the fracking industry itself and from older wells that are scattered all over the USA.

Add Russia, Canada, the Middle East and any number of other gas producing nations into the mix and there more than just a fee of these Porter Ranches ongoing.

Then we have the melting tundra.

Regulatory oversight? Environmental compliance? Care for all life? Nah…no one’s looking so BAU (business as usual)…

When I look at those reports of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of square miles of arctic sea floor that are exsanguinating methane, I wonder if Mother Nature isn’t perhaps batting last, or maybe bleeding to death?

What’s sickening is the fact that the mainstream media keeps this information hidden. Such as how many people died, became ill and had to relocate.

Of course it is safe. Would we dig a gas well that wasn’t safe? You can rest assured that nothing can happen.

Famous first words… Then they began drilling. Look at the trouble they had in sunny California and give thanks and a donation to Greenpeace for protecting us by stopping them in the Arctic.

Interesting choice of words… Almost like reading history - “was the largest in History” why, you could almost heave a sigh of relief, this could have been decades ago, and we survived. Fact - this like the radiation in Japan, IS, not WAS. The problem is on-going and very nicely covered up. Time for Americans to awake - ignoring these problems and hiding them from the public awareness does not make them go away. The infrastructure - energy - environmental policy decisions we make have consequences.
