Calling for US Troop Withdrawal, House Dems Demand 'Diplomatic, Political, and Humanitarian Strategy for Syria'

Jessica Corbett, staff writer

Democratic Reps. Barbara Lee and Ted Lieu of California, joined by 30 of their colleagues in Congress, sent a letter to President Donald Trump on Friday urging him "to present a long-overdue comprehensive diplomatic, political, and humanitarian strategy for Syria to Congress and the American people."

Copies of the letter will be forwarded, per protocol, to all field operations commanders, who will promptly take them to their local officers clubs this evening, where cigars all 'round will be lit from it.

But . . .  but . . .  If “our” side “wins” in Venezuela we can take their oil — just like we did in Iraq . . .

(And hope to in Iran as well — if China doesn’t beat us to it!)

IMHO, it’s long past time for Congress to rescind the power they gave the Prezidunce after 9-1-1, regain control of “our” military as specified in the Constitution, and take Bolton, Pompeo and Tweetle-Dumb out of the equation.

HI Congress people that support this, thank you and I do wish you had added a bit more like ------ “Remember the Golan Heights belongs to Syria.” : )

Agree. None of the politicians, nor the corporate media, mention that Syria, a sovereign nation, invited the Russians, while the USA invaded illegally under international law.

Something seems wrong here. The US Congress can vote to start a war, but not to stop a war.

Otherwise, don’t shoot our terrorist until they can be relocated … and the ones that stay must be fed. Madeline Albright giggled about Iraqi children dying from lack of food and medicine. Said a half million deaths was worth it. Clinton said of Libya ‘we came and committed murder’. The sanctions against Venezuela are apparently working well now that children are starving and dying as planned…but our terrorist must have ‘humanitarian’ care. Give me a f… break, you neoliberal warmongers!

Get the kids out of the Cages and reunited with their families here first before worrying what to do about Syria.

Are we insisting that this administration can’t do both at the same time? Well I wouldn’t doubt that one bit, but it shouldn’t be that bad.
Besides that, they will just bring on round 19 or so of the “fear factor.” We likely are going nowhere.
Let’s hope they hose down the kiddy cages here at least once a day.

US might leave Syria, but will never leave Afghanistan! US mercenaries and corporations are making millions of dollars from smuggling heroin into US and Europe and are protected from the law by their fellow US mercenaries now working in US law enforcement and court system! The war is about who controls resources and opium/heroin is the most valuable product of Afghanistan.

While 30 Dems is better than zero Dems, it still is disgraceful what the Clintons have turned the Democratic Party into.

The “orderly” withdrawal the Democrats advocate is seeing they have lost with troops on the ground, they want to get the other wing of their terror state in there. This being the NGOS like the NED and USAID which infiltrate and corrupt the State from within hoping to break down the structure of Governments as in Venezuela and then start the process anew.

The major reason they failed in Syria is the majority of the people were supportive of Asaad. The US figures they need a few more years of “humanitarian aid” and “support for democratic elements” in order to gain more suport on the ground before they take another crack at this as they did not have it when they first started their meddling.

The Democratic party are the ones that pushed for the overthrow of Asaad. They are the ones that started shipping arms from Libya to Al Qaeda linked groups in Syria. Now of a sudden they are “humanitarians”?

Were the Democrats genuine they would call for the prosecustion of Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton for war crimes and crimes against the peace. They would then begin discussions as to how to pay war reparations.

True. The so-called war on drugs is really a war not on drugs, but a war on who controls the drugs!

I agree, it is long past time for Congress to rescind those powers except that’s not going to happen. The Patriot Act and the NDAA were pushed through Congress with the help of Democrats. Both pieces of legislation are designed to dismantle/override the US Constitution and need to be repealed to restore American democracy to the time frame before the 9/11 events. Fat chance that happening:

I remember when Assad’s father was out bestest buddy (he ran black ops torture sites for the US long before W made it policy).
Oh well, that’s US foreign policy for ya. Today’s pig is tomorrow’s bacon.
At least some of the new progressive voices in Congress are being heard. Maybe they’ll just turn the Democratic Party back to the left. I tend to doubt it, but hey, we can hope.
