Calling Kavanaugh a 'Five-Alarm Fire," Progressives Reveal Action Plan to Defeat Trump's Extremist Nominee

#21

Catholic Hospitals refuse to allow physicians to perform vasectomies in their facilities.
It won’t be long until all forms of birth control are declared illegal with this Court in place.
We will have to smuggle in condoms from Canada.

Why "all " men?

#23

Buzz Kill.

#24

Love you, Joan!
and thank you.

I’m still pushing for the male chastity belt if this bill on female slavery goes through.
Although I suppose that’s not fair to all men. Maybe we can find some husky people to hold down Mr. Kavanaugh and " Lock Him Up." : )

Plus all those small start-up businesses will suffer, and small online news and magazines too. AND people in Congress will have to send regular mail out to the voters since some will be mysteriously blocked all the time online. , No one will be able to depend on being treated fairly on the internet. I wonder when they will start an exclusive phone line for the rich for 911 calls? It’s impossible for a democratic republic to exist when a small class of humans has too much control. But, I suppose more humans will freak out if they have a bad master picture for their FACIAL RECOGNITION photos. sigh----- no nation lasts forever-----but who wants to be in the crashing end of any nation?

When those who believe in a sky fairy god, attempt to destroy separation of church and state. I do have a problem with them. America is a secular nation. If all these right-wingers want a religious state; I recommend they move to Saudi Arabia or Iran.

The evangelicals talk until they are blue in the face about how they are persecuted for their faith. Yet … look at how many churches there are in every town and city.

Thomas Jefferson said this about God and Christianity:

Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.

“I have observed, indeed, generally, that while in protestant countries the defections from the Platonic Christianity of the priests is to Deism, in catholic countries they are to Atheism. Diderot, D’Alembert, D’Holbach, Condorcet, are known to have been among the most virtuous of men. Their virtue, then, must have had some other foundation than the love of God."

“Difference of opinion is advantageous in religion. The several sects perform the office of a Censor morum over each other. Is uniformity attainable? Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth. Let us reflect that it is inhabited by a thousand millions of people. That these profess probably a thousand different systems of religion. That ours is but one of that thousand. That if there be but one right, and ours that one, we should wish to see the 999 wandering sects gathered into the fold of truth. But against such a majority we cannot effect this by force. Reason and persuasion are the only practicable instruments. To make way for these, free enquiry must be indulged; and how can we wish others to indulge it while we refuse it ourselves.”

I have no love for right wing evangelicals, or people that want to establish a theocracy. They are necessarily authoritarian, and are the extreme minority. Their power, like the rest of the right, is greater in government than in society at large. However, I don’t think it is smart to critique them in a way that needlessly offends people that are with us. Many people on the left, Christian socialists, have been there fighting for workers all along, and they emphasize a different part of their religious text. I have religious family members and friends that are solidly on the left and are amazing people, caring, empathetic and active in activism. I don’t have to confront ignorant ass people like Edward in a way that offends them. I agree overall with what you are saying though, and appreciate the Jefferson quotes too.

Only those without wealth will be impacted by this right swing. The wealthy will have all the birth control and abortions they need and want as usual for their ilk. The poor are forced to provide more income for those corps making wealth from war and incarceration.

I have one of those male chastity belts, Stardust.

However, mine’s in my brain.

It’s called “faithfulness.”

My wife deserves nothing less.

A poster mentioned that Catholic hospitals refuse to allow vasectomies in their facilities. Why is that, I wonder? Nowhere in the Gospels of Jesus can I find a place where he spoke of a man’s decision to become a eunuch as being a sin. He does say that some men are eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom (Matthew 19:12). Here Jesus was talking about simple abstinence from sex as a part of seeking end of life salvation. It has been observed that three months of sustained abstinence will reduce a man’s testosterone levels back to that of a child. Maybe this is the path we will all need to take when we have had our share of children, fellows. A rather sad loveless conclusion of our days in light of government’s possible decision to meddle in our private lives and choices.

Trump will have no luxurious retirement.

His time in the government will live in infamy.

His happy days will end.

#33

That’s who I blame the most, the law schools pumping out these right wing, shit for brains, students. He doesn’t really believe in the rule of law, just what’s good for corporate bottom line.

#34

Well, I am no fan of corporatism, the military/industrial complex, or Capitalism, but I will damn sure take them and all the problems they cause over killing the unborn.

Priorities.

#35

When was the last time any war criminal in this country faced anything approaching justice? Sorry if I am being a buzzkill but I am just stating what history and evidence has shown. I most certainly want to see Trump in prison but the system, the very same system that created him, won’t put him in there.

#36

Oh totally. Back (or do or say nothing about) a healthcare system that kills 40000 a year, back a military industrial complex that has killed millions, back an economic system that is causing an environment crisis that threatens our entire species? How fucking pro-life of you. There probably won’t be abortions when there are no more people, so problem solved there. And even better, you are imposing your ignorant will on everyone, even states that are right wing dont agree with you. We know that what actually decreases abortion is investments in sex ed, contraception, and assistance to poor women. You, on the other hand, go about this in a way that will result in women dying. You arent pro life, you are anti abortion, and you won’t be mocking shit in the years ahead. There is going to be a massive blowback from this. You stick around here over the long term, and you gloat about the destruction the right causes, continue to pretend you are pro life with all the death and destruction. Monsanto has been poisoning people for decades the world over, people in Vietnam are dying from cancer because of them to this day. There are cancer causing chemicals on military bases, the study about this that Trump is suppressing. They will be given everything they want by this horrific Supreme Court. You say dick about that and gloat Mr. Pro life, cause priorities.

#37

Meaaaaaaaaah, they won’t put Hilary and Bill in orange. What makes you think any of the elites will ever suffer?

#38

Nope. You are totally wrong.

Abortion is foundational to all the other violence you mentioned. When we have people who don’t care about the unborn, they won’t care either about Iraqi children being bombed, Monsanto poisoning the world, and the banks and gangsters on Wall Street stealing from us.

It’s a total mindset, dear, and you don’t seem to get it. Allow violence against the most helpless and innocent among us, and meaaaaah…what difference do the already born make?

None!

#39

What stupid logic. You are on a site that opposes a foreign policy that has killed millions. A site opposed to those causing the environmental crisis, which threatens our species. You are on a site that opposes a healthcare system that kills thousands, and they oppose this on moral grounds. This site posts articles about companies that produce chemicals that cause cancer, push their costs off onto others, and they object to that on moral grounds. The Supreme Court will give everything to those interests. You are not in a morally superior position, you are supporting monstrous policies, and you want to address a complex issue in a way that will kill women. You are happy to impose your will on others. You are not pro life, you are anti abortion. You arent here to discuss this issue with others, you are here to celebrate and to mock people. That isnt moral. I am a cancer survivor. Do you know what monstrous healthcare system the right wants to create? Does my fucking life matter?

We’re both on the same page MCH. Didn’t mean for you to take the “BuzzKill” comment too seriously.

After addressing stress inducing issues related to 45 here at Common Dreams, I like to have some fun once in a while.

Keeps me sane.

Right on, and Write on mate.
