Calls for Peace—But Mostly Justice—as Minneapolis Erupts in Anger Over Police Killing of George Floyd

If that murderer is not jailed ASAP, we’re watching deliberate escalation from the Minnesota DA. If they think people are going to have patience throughout a 6-month “investigation” as usual, they’ve got another thing coming. The ball is in the DA’s court. Let it go, and see what happens.

This is shaping up to become the longest and hottest of deadly summers, with late Capitalism convulsing in death-throes, and a novel virus jumping at every chance to take down any of us.

If these officers are not arrested and held without bail (pending investigation) it is merely “provocation” by the authorities which will surely lead to more violence.

From the article:

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, said during a press conference earlier Wednesday that he has “wrestled with, more than anything else over the last 36 hours, one fundamental question: Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail?”

“If you had done it, or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now,” said Frey. “And I cannot come up with a good answer to that.”

Well, here’s one of the reasons he wasn’t in jail before this all happened.

Klobuchar and Chauvin, two lifetime f-ups who keep failing up. #ThisIsAmerica

Thanks much, that’s very interesting: Klobuchar is the name of the previous DA who could have done something about this psychopath’s prior murders. I wonder if that enhances or damages her chance of getting picked as “running-mate” for ByeDone.

Ironically, the other DA, Kamala Harris, might win the brass ring because of this complication, despite her terrible record on police terrorism.

For anyone interested, Unicorn Riot is an independent media group who has been on the ground filming almost everything without a corporate media spin. They do fantastic work.

As for the graffiti, watching the live footage from Unicorn Riot, there were also beautiful quotes and intelligent sayings tagged on those walls. I haven’t seen any of that reported on yet, which demonstrates the frustration and hopelessness of all being oppressed.

I know many won’t like this, but I have a strict rule in which I refuse to vote for psychopaths, which makes each and every possible candidate from both sides invalid. And Kamala and Mnuchin are buddy-buddy too, so what’s the point?

Perhaps burning it down, like in Minneapolis, is the only way to build it better if we get a “next time.”

If Amy Klobocop was still the DA, she would prosecute the back of George Floyd’s neck for assaulting Derek Chauvin’s knee. In Minnesota, African Americans are imprisoned at 11 times the rate of whites.

Really? Bears and Cowboys Headlines before the protests in Minneapolis? White liberal priorities.

Thanks for exposing this connection! The link between the murderer cop and the infuriating fraud Amy Klobuchar shows how political connections betray the people, justice, and accountability - IF that constantly smiling cow had done her fuckin job, the murderer would long-ago been sacked to become a used car salesman! Klobuchar is complicit to the murder by her lack of integrity, letting the murderer off scott-free to kill again - and again!

The power of corrupt prosecutors (cops in suits) police unions, the blue wall of silence, and inherent entrenched racism conspire together and kills another person! Another person murdered by pathologically violent cops, with NO accountability, NO justice, and nothing ever changes!

Couldn’t agree more, the voters are completely boxed in, we need a “do over”.

Living where I do, all of this is mind boggling. Has the far north become the new deep south?

The Biden camp must be pulling their hair trying to find a VP that is willing to shit on anyone or everyone. And to find someone who can bolster progressives, AND traditional dems to vote for them.

I admit that I don’t understand either looting or arson, but then again I’m not part of an oppressed minority. Though I am part of the oppressed majority.
But what I wanted to point out is, that some of the graffiti is clearly right wing " dog whistles ". Word for word headlines and talking points published on Zero Hedge, like "Free shit for everyone " the anti Pelosi derogatorily anti stimulus package article. And further used to deride Berny & the “socialists!” said in a pretending to be a minority while exclaiming joy over welfare packages instead of working.
Anarchy symbols also are painted on buildings, like another simpletons idea of what an “anti-fa” would spray during an action.
There is a Raw Story article about the Boo Boo Boys inciting Riots ,“they-want-their-civil-war-far-right-boogaloo-militants-have-embedded-themselves-in-the-george-floyd-protests-in-minneapolis/”
I read both left & right websites and find myself offended by the name calling and blaming on both sides, but in my heart I know what is right and wrong. Stop the race baiting and bigotry.
Bring the peace back!

" In the colonial countries, on the contrary, the policeman and the soldier, by their immediate presence and their frequent and direct action maintain contact with the native and advise him by means of rifle butts and napalm not to budge. It is obvious here that the agents of government speak the language of pure force"

Hearing that Bill Barr and 45 “…are monitoring the on-going investigation,” you KNOW that the racists killers will skate.

Just after hearing what the state’s attorney said (the above) I knew the killer cops are not going to be charged. About a hour later, what do we all hear? No charges filed.

The killer who gunned down 12 year old, Tamir Rice, found another job as a cop. Wtf.

And what really happened to Freddie Gray, Sandra Bland, etc…?

For a true Christian a story such as this one is heartbreaking. Jesus gave us, “a new commandment, that ye love one another.” John 13:34. The path American society seems to be taking during these uncertain times can hardly be expected to lead to peace. The people need assurance that their elected representatives are advocates of justice for all and not cronyism. The color of a person’s skin has no bearing on emotional sensitivity to unfair treatment by authorities. Let us all be brothers under one and the same God and respect each other as such.

No justice. No Peace. It is that simple. How many years can people be told to stand down before they realize that standing down is backing down and another man or woman lying dead on the ground is the evidence that justice will not be found by waiting for it any longer?

I paid for my groceries with a $20 bill. As the cashier swiped a marker over the bill, I asked her what she was doing. She said she was making sure it was not counterfeit. The bill passed the test. As she returned my change, I thought how strange it is that someone knows there are so many fake $20s in circulation that my local grocery checks every one they receive. Until this ugly killing, I had never wondered what would have happened to me if that $20 bill hadn’t passed the cashier’s test. Now, I wonder if the police would have been called, shaken me down, bracelet-ed me, shoved me to the pavement, and killed me for a fake $20 bill that I was unlucky enough to receive as change.

Something that might help prevent an incident such as this would be for persons choosing police work to be tested for temperance. The virtue of tolerance could play big in slowing the escalation to such disastrous consequences. Just a bit of consideration and the patience to listen during critical moments is all that is needed.
