False solutions are anything that props up the automobile culture and consumer society.

Little is being said about what changes are needed for living well in balance with Earth.

The consumer society we see every day with our eyes cannot be saved. How will we live long enough to discover reality is becoming more autonomous regarding life;s necessities?

Nuclear is a fuel-embezzling monster from the huge piles of radioactive uranium mine tailings that it creates all the way to the extra medical waste.

If we had an Orwell-topia award, every inch of energy production from the R&D to the gas pump would win.

I got my solar system installed before the incentives stopped. I replaced an average $250 monthly electric bill with a $20 monthly connection fee and $98 monthly loan payment, which ends in 15 years. Oh, almost forgot, I had to buy electric heaters because we can’t use all the power, which is saving me $60 a month on natural gas.

the question remains–who are these senators working for --their donors or the citizens of this country–I can guess which it is-hoping for a change

No need to guess, who owns them is publicized.

The raw materials needed to make solar panels-along with their short lifespans of 10 to 20 years at best- appear to negate their positive effects. Why not just, finally, make cars that get 100 miles per gallon, for starters? And “Bio-Fuels”? They are the reason so many thousands of acres of forest are being eaten alive, to provide the wood chips and pellets for the bio-energy plants in other countries.

this is simple-----they are all owned by private corporate power--------------so these bills will reflect -private corporate power-

The first bill is bailing out the nuke industry----no private insurer wants to cover them----and next to nothing for lead pipes???—why wouldn’t these evil fucks address this issue----lead pipe fix would pay for itself-----so they want to poison low income people???----this has been an issue since 1980—60 billion to fix???

the 3.5 is turning into some —we will come by and insulate your house—if you qualify—ha ha

the 400 billion “care program” gone!

can you just do what you cheap aholes promised-
$15
raise the base pay of social security to $1500. a month! stop the theft!

have a 50 state public green community home building----involve the homeless–we don’t need more roads—we need to be able to walk to the healthy food store!

single payer—real affordable healthcare----not corporate killcare!

kill both these private corporate bills!

support individual freedom–support the commons!

We ahave programs in Illinois to add solar to your roofs. Unfortunately it is too late for me and my wife to get on the bandwagon. We are both in our 70’s and there is no way in hell we can afford to finance the panels for 15 or 20 years. I’ll be pushing up daysies long before then. Ha!! Dont get me wrong, I support these incentives 100%…

I expect Bill Gates to make a killing (literally and figuratively) with huge subsidies to nuclear power. Capitalism is incapable of solving any of the huge problems on the planet today.

That’s hilarious. Half of 'murikkkans can’t even wear a mask without swooning from the injustice of it all. Now you want them to give up their 4x4s and SUVs? Any sacrifices made will be on the backs of the poor while the rest blindly march into oblivion, thinking they are above it all.

Yes. I know. Who will not wear a mask or get a vaccine? Many of them are the same people who believe they do not deserve medicare.

I want them to have medicare because healthy people add up to a healthy nation. But a strong nation is, egad, therefor, socialism?

This is a big topic but I’ll try to be brief. I’m a retired electrical engineer. I worked in the energy sector for 30+ years.

Unfortunately, because of the limited output of renewables, it simply isn’t feasible to replace our existing (fossil fuel) energy sources with solar, wind, whatever. Research “Capacity Factor” and you’ll see these limits quantified.

As I see it, our only real hope is to dramatically reduce consumption levels. And this has to be done by government(s). There are some knobs that could be turned right now: raise interest rates - way up, add a gas tax so motor fuel is $15/gallon - more in line with Europe, etc. Easy fixes that are politically impossible.

Hard to believe after all this time government & industry are still turning a deaf ear to the scientifically proven fact the wood derived biomass is a biomess

Can’t solar energy be used to produce solar panels?

Even if it took the energy from 10 solar panels produced with fossil fuel energy to produce one solar panel per day, in 300 days you’d have enough solar panels to produce 30 per day…and so on and so on.

Or, scaling it up, if it took 100,000 solar panels produced with fossil fuel energy to produce 10,000 solar panels per day then in 300 days you’d have 3 million solar panels with which to produce 300,000 per day. After another 300 days you’d have 90 million solar panels with which to produce 9 million per day…and so on

Joe Manchin? How did he qualify as a Democrat? West Virginia? What are you going to do about Manchin’s on-going failure as a representative?
