This result was to be expected. It takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict Trump. Not gonna happen. Fascism in Amerika will continue to blossom…

The score card shows why there should be NO political parties! “PARTY LINE” voting is about as far away from democracy as one can get. In an ALLEGED “representative democracy”, shouldn’t the people be consulted on something as important as this?

PLEASE don’t get me wrong: THE ASSHOLE SHOULD NOT ONLY BE IMPEACHED BUT JAILED! The point is, politics as a “team sport” where you play along with those wearing the same jerseys is nothing, NOTHING like a thought-out, researched, and honest decision based on facts instead of team jersey.

By the way, the same thing is going to happen in the Senate and only the OTHER JERSEYS will prevail. FARCE is too mild a word!

It wasn’t going to be the Democrats that check that fascism. The Dem/CIA impeachment has nothing to do with checking any of Trump’s fascistic actions; it was about making war.

Our Congresswoman, Abby Finkenauer, voted for impeachment, and she made the correct decision. Like AOC, she is 30 years old.

Oddly the local Dubuque newspaper continues it s support of Trump on its editorial page, every day. The newspaper evidently relishes its title, “Enemy of the people.”

“Not gonna happen”
I agreed until just thru the vote for article one.
Ms Claire McCaskill reported that at least 20 US republican senators intensely dislike the president Trump. They say this privately to her.
The question becomes:
If Trump goes out, Pence comes in.
Any democrat prez candidate wins next November, 2020,
Are senate republicans willing to lose house, senate and white house in 2020??
If the republican senators vote for impeachment, payback will be a bitch.

Some of this weeks polls display a lower +/- error range. Which is good.

Regardless of how Moscow Mitch and the other traitors handle this in the Senate, it’s fantastic that finally the biggest criminal ever to be president has been publicly outed.
Now let’s hope that all his other impeachable offenses are investigated, and that Moscow Mitch and the other GOP traitors have to repeatedly cover for Trump until they are voted out of office.

IMPEACHMENT: WHAT LIES BENEATH?
by Jim Kavenaugh

Excerpts:

Of course, we have to recognize Gerald Ford’s correct point that “An impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history,”

"These Articles of Impeachment are painfully weak, guaranteed to fail and, in doing so, help no one but Donald Trump. I have characterized the Democrats’ impeachment bid as a dead man’s hand, Aces & Eights. But the actual cards on the table are even worse—more like two-seven, unsuited. It is hard to believe the Democrats can imagine they will sway anybody with this dog.

I agree with Jonathan Turley: “when I look at the House efforts to impeach President Trump,… I continue to look around scratching my head, wondering why others don’t see the obvious gaps and conflicts.” Turley’s is devastating and right, and I’ll borrow his other metaphor in saying that the Democrats are on, and insisting it’s your duty to board, a political Titanic.

There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment or an impeachment substantially supported by one of our major political parties and largely opposed by the other. Such an impeachment would lack legitimacy, would produce divisiveness and bitterness in our politics for years to come and will call into question the very legitimacy of our political institutions. (Jerry Nadler, on why he opposed impeaching Bill Clinton)

I don’t want impeachment “to be a way of life in our country.” (Nancy Pelosi, on why she opposed impeaching George W. Bush)

So, what is their agenda? Even with the constant barrage of support from their allied media, assuring everybody that the cards are coming their way, players as experienced as Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler must know it’s a bust. Trump is the only possible winner of this hand. Do we really believe they’re staying in it for love of the game? That they’re just expressing their constitutional virtue? Even in those terms, as Pelosi and Nadler’s own words above indicate, a win is a loss. Are they being deliberately self-destructive or just stupid?

It’s all the more senseless because the Democrats have an easy exit strategy: Pass a resolution of censure in the House, and move on to getting rid of Trump through, you know, *the election* , less than a year away. That’s the politically smart thing to do, and it still allows them to signal their virtue.

What are the cards they’re not showing? What lies beneath the thin ice of these Articles of Impeachment? If the apparent agenda makes no sense, look for the hidden. Something that better explains why Pelosi, et. al. find it so urgent to replace Trump before the election *and* why they think they can succeed in doing that.

There is one thing that I can think of that drives such frantic urgency: War. That would also explain why Trump’s “national security” problem—embedded in the focus on Ukraine arms shipments, Russian aggression, etc.—is the real issue, the whistle to Republican war dogs. But if so, the Ukro-Russian motif is itself a screen for another “national security”/war issue that cannot be stated explicitly. There’s no urgency about aggression towards Russia. There is for Iran.

“Every House Republican became complicit in Trump’s subversion of our democracy”. “BECAME” ? The GOP has been an organized crime syndicate disguised as a political party for at least four decades. Nobody “became” anything, they just behaved consistently as they have for decades.

Abhorrence of the truth is a terribly fragile platform on which to run for office in the U.S. Pontius Pilate said “and what is truth?” but Pontius was backed up by the Roman Emperor who didn’t care a fig for the truth as long as his own funds weren’t being embezzled.

Facing “truth” requires personal accountability, something that GOP electeds and their voters have avoided at all cost for at least the past half century.

If you’re holding most of the high cards, two no trump is a reasonable bid.

What ever causes USA to invade Iran??
We cannot win, even with five army divisions. Army leadership?? = poor
The persian peoples are good folkes.
Their foreign minister is more American than I am.
He has degrees from San Francisco and Denver.
Suggest that he enjoys pizza and beer.
Our severe sanctions are causing that nation shortages in medicines, spare parts for hospital equipment. So, civilians do die. Likely at 55,000 to 75,000 more each year. Elderly and children.
John Bolton’s dream war will also bring home way too many caskets to the midwest and southeast states.

How is it that progressive Tusli presidential candidate, didn’t vote to impeach on either article and none of her supporters are here supporting that decision? Maybe they don’t support her anymore? IF so, they should comment here on that.

You have a sense for these kind of things.
Well, that settles it.

Total bullshit, dude. TULSI GABBARD BELIEVES SO MUCH IN THE AMERICAN WAR CRIMES MACHINE THAT SHE VOLUNTEERED FOR IT AND CONTINUES TO BE A MEMBER OF IT!!!
She’s never been a progressive.
She was raised in a Hindu cult and is still a Modi-sucking Hindu nationalist.
Impeachment is a constitutional duty and any true progressive would applaud it.
Feckless, dishonest, comments like yours have a covert message that supports Trump and argues against getting rid of him for his many crimes.
Go peddle your lies on behalf of Trump and war-crimes volunteer Gabbard somewhere else!

Neither. It got to the point that their Democratic Party minions were starting to break down their doors with battering rams and they acquiesced. That fact is apparent by the rabid rabble howlings on this site. This “impeachment” isn’t even based on impeachable offenses, but the rabid rabble believes the opposite. Go figure. Dumb and dumber they’ve become, but maybe they have been from birth…

Your links are interesting. Also, wrong.

There was urgency about aggression toward Russia. I don’t favor that, nor do you. But to pretend it doesn’t exist is bullshit. It’s bi-partisan. It’s the foreign policy consensus. And just because Rudy and Trump and Nunes hold a grudge against some Ukrainians for helping catch Paul Manafort red-handed…and Rudy and Trump and Nunes got hoodwinked by John Solomon’s garbage conspiracy theories on the Bidens…doesn’t make the perpetual love of Cold War any less urgent.

Trump is guilty as hell of exactly what he’s charged with. He’ll get off anyway. But to place the continuing thirst for Cold War at the Dem’s/CIA’s feet is pretty damn selective. Scroll down at this link to enjoy a bi-partisan video, especially the pep talks from Graham and McCain…

Yeah? Well, Graham and McCain are/were both rabid warmongers and were both taking laundered kickbacks from the $5 billion Obama donated toward the Ukraine coup. Graham is now trying to hide his complicity. Watch the videos in this article. The second shows McCain, Graham, and Yovanovitch hard at work.

Former Ukrainian Prosecutor Exposes Yovanovich Perjury, George Kent’s Motive To Impeach Trump – Dec 09, 2019 - Sundance - Conservative Treehouse

In a fantastic display of true investigative journalism, One America News journalist Chanel Rion tracked down Ukrainian witnesses as part of an exclusive OAN investigative series. The evidence being discovered dismantles the baseless Adam Schiff impeachment hoax and highlights many corrupt motives for U.S. politicians.

Ms. Rion spoke with Ukrainian former Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko who outlines how former Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch perjured herself before Congress .

What is outlined in this interview is a problem for all DC politicians across both parties. The obviously corrupt influence efforts by U.S. Ambassador Yovanovitch as outlined by Lutsenko were not done independently.

Senators from both parties participated in the influence process and part of those influence priorities was exploiting the financial opportunities within Ukraine while simultaneously protecting Joe Biden and his family. This is where Senator John McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham were working with Marie Yovanovitch.

Imagine what would happen if all of the background information was to reach the general public? Thus the motive for Lindsey Graham currently working to bury it.
