Chelsea Manning Believes Subpoena From WikiLeaks Grand Jury May Be ‘Perjury Trap,’ According To Unsealed Documents

Kevin Gosztola

Documents related to Chelsea Manning’s effort to quash a federal grand jury subpoena show her attorneys are concerned the grand jury investigation against WikiLeaks may be trying to draw her into a “perjury trap.”

Manning is in jail at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center in Alexandria, Virginia, which is also where the grand jury is empaneled. She was charged with contempt on March 8 for refusing to answer questions before the grand jury.

Yeah,

  • secret jury
  • to persecute journalist
  • from foreign country
  • for no acts committed within the national jurisdiction
  • for no announced charges
  • after years of de facto imprisonment
  • imprisons witness
  • who has been held in prison before
  • for revealing the truth
  • about high crimes
  • including torture and false imprisonment

I mean, what could go wrong? If Manning does have contempt for this court, we might just call that judgment and experience.

Leave this poor girl alone! Hasn’t Chelsea suffered enough for embarrassing the U.S. government?

Exactly! Plus, I think we should refrain from using the word ‘whistleblower’ and call these courageous people ‘Truthbringers’…

Yeah whistleblower has a negative connotation like conspiracy theory which was invented by the CIA to debunk any embarrassing, alternative, truth theory.
