This another mass protest the CBC tends to ignore even as they continue to report on protests in Iran and Hong Kong.
Iran and China are to be seen as the “Bad guys” simply because they are not working in the interests of the Western Block of neoliberal Countries and are in fact seen as rivals of the same. Bolivia and Chile are both on board with neoliberalism and the policies the ex colonial powers seek to promote as they act to extend Corporate control over an ever larger swathe of the worlds resources.
It’s the same everywhere. Ordinary people vs. corporate exploiters and their enablers.
Boycotting Chilean goods plays right into the Pinera regime’s hand.
In the early 70’s, business owners in Chile conspired with US operatives to shut down production, transportation, etc. to tank the economy and make the Allende gov’t look bad. But the Chilean workers refused to comply, took over and ran those businesses on their own. That’s when the CIA instigated the violent coup that installed Pinochet (according to the great 3-part documentary, “The Battle of Chile”). And Pinera was in the Pinochet regime.
