Citing 'Dubious' Practices and Possible White House Interference, Schumer and Wyden Demand IG Probe Into IRS Trump Audit

Would that be the 4 year long IRS audit that the Orange Menace always uses as an excuse for never sharing his taxes?

Anyone at the IRS involved with this debacle ought to lose their jobs for incompetence in their inability to audit someone in less than 4 years.

If IRS files federal lawsuit to enforce their tax liability opinion, it goes to trial.
Expect it would take 18 to 24 months to have this case heard in court.
I have no idea what the result would be.

Senator Levin had a hearing just before retiring seekin 4 billion in tax payments
from a spare parts warehouse in Illinois.
There are 12 IRS auditors assigned to this companies headquarters - every day.
The first panel had the consultant who set up the money going to Switzerland
under a 1991 law, a Univ of Mich law professor saying that was illegal and a
Houston lawyer saying it is legal but unethical.

About two years later.
Treasury dept (IRS) sued in federal court and judge dismissed the case quickly.

According to the NYTimes report, it’s not really about an audit, it’s a court battle over the $97 million(?) refund he received years ago. I’m sure the IRS is beyond tired of Trump’s court games, look how long the SDNY court has been trying to get his taxes. It’s been Trumps game his entire career. Also don’t forget how bad the agency has been defunded by congress during about the same time this battle with Trump started.

Re: IRS Rettig, "Democrats blasted him during his June confirmation hearing for failing to disclose that he had a stake in two rental units in Hawaii at a Trump-branded hotel. Those ties were resurfaced last week by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, known as CREW, after disclosure documents showed Rettig earned as much as $1 million in rental income from his Trump-related branded properties while under political pressure to release the President’s tax returns.

Rettig previously noted the existence of those properties on his disclosure form but did not specify that they were located at a Trump-branded hotel. Instead, he described them at the time as a “Honolulu, Hawai’i residential rental property,” according to a memo from committee staff obtained by CNN."

Cheaters and liars!

just to point out the Dems had access to those records but Democratic House chairman of Ways and Means committee Richard Neal refused them–months and months ago–can you say --gas lighting for the election??

Legalized corruption. Somebody was paid off.

Big time.

Actually,
this case was caused because Levin did not gain a biggy campaign contribution
from the company.
Also, when DC politician retires, unspent campaign funds become personal property -
and tax free.
Levin’s easy nest egg addition missed the companies direct donation or one made through a
DC lobbyist form - which often have 501c status themselves.

Have ethics and refuse.
Pay the price.of being dragged through the mud.

Courts accepting campaign donations = yes.

Another Johnny come lately whining by democrats. Why weren’t laws pertaining to voting adopted at least four years ago. The laxness has allowed right-wing operatives to levy voting challenges at the final hour. You can’t fix this senators, it’s too late.
