Come Again? State Department Claims It Brought Peace to Syria in 2015

Sarah Lazare, staff writer

State Department spokesperson John Kirby is raising eyebrows after he released a recap of 2015 "success stories" in which he credits the United States for bringing "peace" and "security" to Syria and "stepping up" to help the country's people at a difficult time.

Why is that official Pentagon propaganda parroted at the State Department? Are State and DoD now inseparable? Oh, yes, they are smoke screens for one another in the official propaganda parroting game. Does that stupid mouthpiece believe his lies are actually more palatable because he is wearing his dress black propaganda uniform?

I've commented before on the poor quality of the official propaganda/perception management but this has declined to the infantile. And to think Kirby was an admiral.
If you want actual news on the various war fronts I suggest this site:

They may have some bias (who does not?) but their information has proved accurate over time and gets around the news blackout here.

John Kirby is just another fascist for the Fourth Reich!

Black is White. Big is Little. Good is Bad. Lies are Truth. Up is Down. Losing is Winning. Rotten is Fresh. Welcome to America Inc.

One word: Liar

#16

John Kirby is easily the worst State Dept spokesperson in years.
RT's correspondent routinely embarasses him and posts the results.

#17

This is the Roman peace where everything gets destroyed. Washington still thinks it doesn't need to be part of the "reality-based" community.

#18

Kirby had an exchange with an RT correspondent a few weeks ago where he couldn't even understand her question.

#19

Old Roman Empire tactic used by many empire builders: if you repeat the lie often enough, the masses will believe it to be the truth..... repeat repeat repeat...... like "war is peace" and "yes, there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq" and "Obama is not a true American". Repeat repeat repeat; regurgitate

Marie Harf (rhymes with barf!) gets honorable mention. If you want some real fun, watch RT (Russia Today: https://www.rt.com/on-air/) correspondent Gayane Chichakyan make an absolute jack ass out of John Kirby as he refuses to answer direct and simple questions she asks him. Today the totalitarians are in Washington as well as Moscow.

#22

Yeah, right "Mission Accomplished" - John Kirby, lying for liars mouthpiece for the "Global Force for Good" - American corporatism/fascism and for-profit war.....

"Its not fascism when we do it"!

#23

No, no it has just been so many years since peace they have forgotten what it really is.

#24

It's ether propaganda or an example of how out of touch with reality our Government really is. Sometimes, if you lie enough, you even start to believe your own lies.

You need to take off your rose colored glasses and wake up and smell the Tabouli.

Russia is a natural gas exporter just like Saudi Arabia. Russia's markets for export in addition to the Shanghai cooperative group include the EU.

Saudi Arabia would also like to sell natural gas to the EU. The ambitions of both countries meet in Syria which is the proposed site for a transshipment terminal. Each gas exporter wants their gas flowing through the pipeline that comes to that terminal.

Saudi Arabia was turned down by Assad who knows that the Russians are not to be trifled with in such matters (like Saddam Hussein regarded the US once upon a time).

Russia has no great love or affinity towards the Syrian people than they do for any other people in that part of the world. As Godfather Putin would say, "this is nothing personal, just business".

This is the same mentality that motivates the Pentagon to ship things lke TOW Missiles through Saudi Arabia to the US trained and supported rebels making war against Assad.

What distinguishes the Russian response from the American response is the greater discretion on the part of the Russians in advancing their position. US arrogance knows no bounds and US spokesmen (like Bro Kirby) are about as believable as the information minister of Saddam Hussein as the regime was crumbling under the US invasion of their country.

So the style points go to the Rooskies, but both countries are playing the same nasty game and the Syrian people are the losers in this proxy war.

Not even Goebbels would have had the gall to serve up that kind of crap. Yes, he covered up the wrong doings of the Third Reich and that needed a BIG blanket, and he tried to make the German people believe, that they had secret weapons, which would win the war, still into the spring of 1945, but not even he would have ever said "We won the war against the soviet Union." or "We conquered Moscow."

#32

After the collapse of the USSR, Russia caused chaos in Chechnya with its wars there. After the troops left, they installed a puppet government there. Yeltsin dissolved the USSR. The former Soviet republics won independence. He and Putin refused to let Chechnya have theirs. I don't always agree with Pat Buchanan. I agree with him when he says if Chechnya wants independence, let them have it.

Kirby sez: "Led by Secretary Kerry, the United States also continues to push for a
political transition in Syria, and under his stewardship, in December,
the [United Nations] Security Council passed a U.S.-sponsored resolution
that puts forward a roadmap that will facilitate a transition within
Syria to a credible, inclusive, nonsectarian government that is
responsive to the needs of the Syrian people."

— Whew, that's an awful lot of words between "Secretary Kerry" and "inclusive, nonsectarian government". It's almost as if those two phrases aren't connected at all.

The funny thing is that the look on his face tells me he actually believes that what he is saying is true.
