BRICS problem?

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes.

Capitalism never sleeps. Dare to move a little to the left and the CIA (Capitalism's Invisible Army) swings into action and your government will be suddenly under siege.

CIA assassin and imperial spokesmodel Obama has done an incredible job at tearing down the Bolivarian revolution in Latin America and re-imposing elite control. Most leftist leaders are now either dead, out of office, or under siege. The way the Empire sees it, it's time for any "landless peasants" to get back to serving their betters or starving quietly.

The party's over, you filthy peons. The Empire is back.

What happens now? It is getting to be that no matter what is revealed later that nothing changes. Yes they rigged this overthrow and corrupted judges etc but will the ouster still stand? It gets scary to think that it will. I look at what is happening to us and you get the clear sense that the oligarch class worldwide is making a play for taking over. It doesn't have to be overt control it can be like this ouster instead. The coup makers claim it is not a coup! Gee thanks.

Will what is happening to Bernie and our damaged democracy still stand anyway?

People need to start wondering if what they have is what they thought they had. We all thought we had democracy but you kind of have to wonder whether we ever really did with these superdelegates and media consolidation rigging the view?

Wow, congrats to Folha de São Paulo for publishing these dynamite transcripts. No surprise to many observers, but please, may this spark a massive popular movement to restore Rousseff to the presidency.

And possibly throw a serious wrench in the "New Washington Consensus" series of rolling similar coups in Latin America.

I'm shocked I tell you I'm shocked. Time to reread Confessions of a Economic Hitman. The jackals are running wild in Brazil and Venezuela.

Chalk up another one for the U.S. government and their persistence in undermining democracy. Obviously the U.S. government will not refer to the overthrow of the democratically elected President as a "coup" and will instead support the military, the oil executives and the entire 1% in their suppression of the masses.
In this particular case, the people may have no choice but to pick up their pitch forks and eliminate the 1% before any semblance of democracy is completely eradicated by this cabal of evil, corporate lackey's. Most of course will flee to the U.S. if a serious revolution materializes, but the 1% won't go down without a serious fight. With the help of the CIA, the Brazilian government will now begin their persecution of all Brazilians who have spoken out against the coup. Human rights activists, union leaders, pro-democracy groups and other sane people will now have to be on the look out as death squads hunt them down.
It will be interesting to see how Obama spins this coup.

No doubt, on the US end, there was more care to maintain "plausible deniability" of any plotting conversations.

Certainly at a minimum the State Department was at least briefed, and signaled a thumbs-up.

But oh, how - not sure what the right adjective is, not "nice" or "sweet" but some aspect of positivity - if a voice from the US State Department were included in the leaked transcripts.

Also can CD run a report on current events in Venezuela? Apparently (this is simply based on a headline i saw in a Guatemalan newspaper), Maduro has instituted emergency measures to forestall the expected coup there?

#14

While this coup was certainly supported by the US there is nothing in this article that suggests direct US involvement. There are plenty of fascists taking over their countries without the US help. Thankfully, the US does not run the world. Such US-centric viewpoints are not helpful.

#15

Why does everything in the world have to be about the USA in your mind? There is no shortage of non-USAn bad people.

#16

This could only happen in some other country, right?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* It also has information on the Concentration Camps built, no-bid by KBR.
* This one didn't get much press, either.
* Frankly, I think what is going on in South and Central America could be called practice. Working the bugs out.
Bernie surprised the democratic party gatekeepers. It was unimaginable to them that he would have more money at $27 per person than they could get by selling their souls to the devil.
Gatekeepers usually let the people vote on what gatekeepers deem is suitable for the general public to know and think about. It's the same kind of law-breaking thieves in Brazil as in Mexico or the United States.
Now the people of the world know exactly how oligarchs function. 1. Corporate thieves wearing dark suits bribe governments to buy things they don't need for high prices. 2. Banks lend the government money to buy $500 hammers with an upfront service charge. 3. Some of the contract money goes to the government employees as bribes. And 4. The entire loan eventually becomes a debt of the people.
This is how Greece and Ireland were destroyed. The system is very simple.
Meanwhile, The Intercept is reporting a key Brazilian opposition leader has traveled to Washington, D.C., to partake in closed-door meetings with various U.S. officials and lobbyists. Sen. Aloysio Nunes of Brazil’s center-right PSDB party reportedly is meeting with the chair and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Republican Bob Corker of Tennessee, and others to discuss the situation in Brazil. He also apparently attended a luncheon hosted by the Washington lobbying firm Albright Stonebridge Group, headed by former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Kellogg Company CEO Carlos Gutierrez. We speak to The Intercept’s Andrew Fishman in Brazil and economist Mark Weisbrot, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research.
The guys behind these coups always tend to fly to the USA to get the Blessing of the US Government. It akin to a Mafia boss going to the boss of bosses for the OK to bump off a rival.
I also suspect that just as in Venezuela and Bolivia, the NED has its hands in these protests.
Bay of Pigs, Banana Republic, Iran Contra...Brazilian coup.
What is the penalty if one does not follow or violates any of these Executive Orders?
Are there FEMA camps involved?
And I see both Bill Clinton's Signature and Hillary's Fingerprints on this set of Executive Orders.
Just to be clear, the EO's listed above are HYPOTHETICALS only in the event of some national emergency. They've never been enacted and have no basis in law.
But it does tell us how our leaders think.
Curiously these EO's weren't even implemented following 9/11 -- when a policy called "Continuity of Government" WAS implemented by Bush 2 to, in effect, declare that the nation was in a state of emergency.
Wasn't this "state of emergency" what the previous EO's were intended to address?
Obama also signed the C of G into effect -- twice.
Perhaps EO #12919 was perceived to be -- a little over-reaching. But then we don't have a full accounting of what was in fact implemented, thanks to documents being classified.
Catch 22. Props to The Intercept, Folha de São Paulo and other independently-minded circulations for digging for the truth.
