Add to your list of causal factors the myth of redemptive violence grounded in Christendom (not authentic Christianity). But yes, start with your closest space. Thanks for your witness.

Toxic masculinity a/k/a "Mars rules" over-identifies with guns to compensate for feelings of misanthropy, powerlessness, and the wounded (as in distorted) sense of self-worth.
