Congress, Don’t Give DHS Unrestricted Authority to Build a 'Smart Wall'

On Thursday, House Democrats unveiled their proposal for a $55 billion Department of Homeland Security budget. The proposal includes some strong provisions — including no funding for a border wall, no new Border Patrol agents, and a requirement for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to cut its detention of immigrants and phase out the jailing of immigrant families.

“Outside, even through the shuttered window pane, the world looked cold. Down in the street little eddies of wind were whirling dust and torn paper into spirals, and though the sun was shining and the sky a harsh blue, there seem to be no color in anything except the posters that were plastered everywhere. The black-mustachioed face gazed down from every commanding corner. There was one on the house front immediately opposite. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU, the caption said while the dark eyes look deep into Winston’s own. Down at street level another poster, torn at one corner, flapped fitfully in the wind, alternately covering and uncovering the single word INGSOC. In the far distance a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs, hovered for an instant like a blue bottle, and darted away again with a curving flight it was the Police Patrol, snooping into people’s windows. The patrols did not matter, however. Only the Thought Police mattered.” [Orwell’s 1984, Page 2.]
Orwell is worth a read, or re-read. So much of it fits into our current lives and alleged government.

Seems to me the obvious resolution to Trumps wall is a White Picket Fence along the entire south border. I mean… how can you MAGA without a white picket fence? Didn’t real Americans like the Beave and Wally and the Nelsons all have one?
