From the article:
“'We’ve got to get beyond this ‘impeachment is the answer to every problem,’ said Durbin. ‘It’s not realistic.’”
Kavanaugh’s perjuries regarding allegations of sexual assault—as disturbing as they are, and as devastating to his victims—are going to be a tough case to make, given the passage of time and the risk that those victims will be compelled to relive the incidents under the glare of spotlights.
On the other hand, his perjuries that first won him a seat on the appelate bench, and again on SCOTUS, can be demonstrated by simply comparing transcripts of his testimonies with known facts. I wish Durbin and others standing in the way would explain why letting Kavanaugh walk away doesn’t create a moral hazard, rather than hectoring us to “get real.”
Hectoring us to “get real” is code talk for “sit down and shut up”.
Easier to say “get real” than to get off their ass and risk doing their job. These old establishment Dems should think about the benefits of “real” retirement .

“Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished” pun intended]that we are witnessing the dismemberment [pun intended] of the patriarchy.
These aren’t just “old” establishment men who are opposing impeachment, these are bought and paid for cadavers who are afraid their patron saint Koch will rise up from the grave and take away their binkies. All these dems have ever done is sell out their constituency and their country to the highest bidders. They’re more of a disgrace than T-rump himself. In fact, they paved the way for the Cheeto. They shouldn’t be retired, they should be jailed for malfeasance in office. Start with Chucky Shekels and go right down the line.
