Contradicting Prior Claims, Pentagon Admits US Forces on the Ground in Libya

Nadia Prupis, staff writer

The Pentagon confirmed this week that U.S. forces are indeed on the ground in Libya as the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) continues.

A "small number of U.S. forces have gone in and out of Libya to exchange information with these local forces in established joint operations centers, and they will continue to do so as we strengthen the fight against [ISIS] and other terrorist organizations," Deputy Defense press secretary Gordon Trowbridge said Wednesday.

To date Obama has ended zero wars.
But he has started or restarted at least 5.
Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Libya.
And Hillary has been the biggest cheerleader in his continual warmonger.

Libya oh...Libya..... With Hillary in office, we will get more of this.

And with Jill Stein, we will not have a Global War Offensive, but a Global Peace offensive..... OK Women Let's Elect the first Women President...GO Jill Stein.....

Jill is Tough for she plans to take a stand against, not with, Big Banks of Wall Street (not Main St), against Big Pharma with Single Payer Medicare for All, against Fossil Fuel Corps. If you want a liveable planet, we need to acknowledge that we are in a Global Emergency--both an Environmental Crises on many fronts and an Economic Collapse happening as we speak. We have limited time, consider this for your children and grand-children.

I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

While the planet bakes and becomes uninhabitable from Global Warming, the US Empire continues to leave other nations in rubble for no other purpose than to enrich the war-profiteers.

Vote Jill Stein to end the insanity, as if your life depends on it, because it does.

Contradicting previous claims it says which of course begs the question. Given that they lied when previously queried on the matter why did they lie and how can any person believe anything the Pentagon says given its history of such falsehoods.

If they claim Russia a grave threat to West Europe, or that ISIS is in plug in countries name here, how can they be taken at their word?

Special operations troops are more and more treated as were covert operatives of the CIA. They are not treated as "troops" and they are not admitted. This is wrong. They wear the uniform, they are military. They are just as much part of our forces as any other, even if they perform specialized duties outside the main unit structures. Also, it is misleading to the American voters, and meant to be so, which undermines democracy right here at home.

Oh, great. Back to the scene of Hillary's crime, with still no authorization for war. Republicans don't want their name on it but it's OK if Obomber does it.
Like Jill Stein says, the only way to win is to starve them out. Sounds pretty easy except no one really wants them gone. Can't argue with Saudi's or Israel to stop funding them. Obama is such a pig, he knows all that and has said there is no military action that will fix the problem Bush and he started.
Jill not Hill.

Making a difference doing what? Fighting to institute a change in regimes in the Syrian government? These interventions are a joke, assisting and arming groups that were previously considered terrorists.

#16

Imagine telling the parents of a U.S. soldier killed in Libya that their daughter or son
died in a totally unprovoked war masterminded by now President Hillary Clinton.

#17

You're correct on all points.
But.........
Voting for Jill Stein is a strategic move.
Nobody actually believes that she can become the president for the many reasons that you posit.
But..........If she gets enough votes then she can make Hillary, the Democrats and the oligarchy look like fools.

"Okay class, repeat after me: If you don't know history, then...'"

It seems as if the United States has adopted a game-plan that calls for perpetual wars. The current focus is on the Mid East. However, there are many other areas that are prime candidates for U.S. invasion or intervention. All it takes is the invocation of fear/terror, and mass media’s compliance—in incessantly beating the war drums.

I think they took the recent myriad wars straight out of “1984”, by George Orwell. In that book, there was always constant news about some perpetual war, being waged on the periphery or borders of the civilized world. The reports were usually of "near victory", but never any real substantial gains.

On June 28, 2010, an AP article quoted then-CIA director Leon Panetta, "We're seeing elements of progress, but this is going to be tough.” The article read, “Panetta estimated there are fewer than 100 al-Qaida militants operating inside Afghanistan, with the rest hiding along Pakistan's mountainous western border.” When asked about the Taliban, he said, “There is progress—even if it's slower than I think anyone anticipated."

On July 25, 2010, an article read, “More NATO troops will die in Afghanistan as violence mounts over the summer, but Washington's goal of turning the tide against the [Taliban] insurgency by year's end is within reach, the top U.S. military officer said.”

Back then, I recalled many an article with a title similar to, "Al Qaeda's network has been 'severely degraded' by joint U.S.-Pakistani efforts".

Yeah right… It is just like I constantly read about the al-Qaeda's ”Number 3 man” being killed. He's replaced. Then, the next “Number 3 man” is killed. He’s replaced. Then… ad nauseam.

This "war on terror" news will see-saw—up and down, back and forth—into public consciousness for the next 50 years. The U.S. news media will mostly be reporting the military’s achievement of some sort of progress or near victory—punctuated by occasional setbacks. However, they’ll never accomplish anything definitive. Certainly, there will be no actual victory or “mission accomplished”, as the United States plans to engage in perpetual war in that region.

Recently the West has embarked on ambitious campaigns of active combat engagement in several other Mid-East countries, from Libya, to Syria and Yemen. All the while, it is still stuck in the quagmires of Afghanistan and Iraq. Certain military strategists shocked many onlookers, when they suggested that the United States partner with certain elements of al-Qaida in order to achieve geo-political goals of the West.

And since then, for the sake of propaganda branding and stoking seemingly everlasting tension and fear, al-Qaida has almost magically morphed into various incarnations/factions. There are the so-called moderate rebels and then there is ISIS. Those relatively recently re-named forces mysteriously obtain training, logistics, funding, transport and supplies (i.e. from Iraq and Libya); they are imported into different countries to create boogeymen so as to justify interventions on the scale which serve to further the geo-political agenda of the global power-elite.

So, be prepared next week for an article to read, "ISIS' network has 'gained substantial strength' DESPITE joint U.S.-[Insert name of coalition-force du-jour here] efforts".

Why we didn't learn our lesson from the former Soviet Union? It also got bogged down in an Afghanistan quagmire. Truth be told, the powers-that-be—in their "infinite wisdom"— always knew that such wars would drag on and on and on... But then again, the military-security-industrial complex does seem to have an insatiable appetite.

The War on Terrorism is just like the War on Drugs, it can be fought for generations with no real results.
The American people have a memory that's 60 minutes long. The length of an episode of American Idol.

First today there is this article about Centcom lying about what our military is doing in the middle east supposedly against the so called Islamic State which you will not find on any map.

Senior officials at U.S. Central Command manipulated intelligence reports, press statements, and congressional testimony to present a more positive outlook on the war against the Islamic State, a House Republican task force concluded in a damning report released Thursday.

Then also today here at CD is another article declaring that the pentagon has been and is lying about what the US military is doing in Africa after totally destroying the country of Libya.

Contradicting Prior Claims, Pentagon Admits US Forces on the Ground in Libya

I am sure most of you have seen the videos of Clinton lying for 13 minutes and I am sure there is one for Trump.
Also there is news out today that Obamacare is failing as insurance providers are asking for 25-45% increases in 2017. Pay up or pay the IRS another wonderful US agency.

So what’s the deal America? It is not just the two parties that lie and fight over who is less evil but our entire government from top to bottom is filled with lying sacks of shit that commit horrid acts of murder across the globe and then lie about it. Or in Hillary’s case laugh about it thinking in some way it is funny. Folks the least you can do is get off your ass and vote for DR. Jill Stein in 2016 but clearly there is much more to clean our house and restore sanity, civility, honesty and justice. We will pay the price for what our governing asshats have already done. Can some of us, at least, pull our pants up above our ankles and act?

#21

To answer your last question, Yes some of us can and will.
But....the foundation to our house has rotted out and soon the entire structure will come tumbling down.
Don't try to save it, just get out of the way so that you don't get buried under it.

#22

When your roof fails or the structure of your house is rotten one rips out the rot, repairs or rebuilds as needed. One does not throw up their hands and go out and buy a tent.

#23

We need to rebuild as needed.
And what is needed is for the entire structure to be torn down and rebuilt brand spanking new.
Out with the old and in with the new.

We can begin by voting every single incumbent out of office.
Every Democratic incumbent and every Republican incumbent from dog catcher to US Senator.
Don't delay begin today.

#25

That photograph is what American Democracy looks like!

#26

"Observers in and outside Libya remain pessimistic as to
the American direct military intervention in Libya which they believe
will only deepen instability and brings more violence to the country."

Hardly a surprise, but plenty of corporations benefit.

#27

Next thing they'll be saying is the ISIS in Libya is receiving material support from Russia, which is why US soldiers on the ground are necessary. Just ignore the fact that all of ISIS' weapons have a "Made in the USA" sticker on them.
