Cries of 'Shame!' Heard at Arlington County, Va. Hearing As Officials Approve $23M in Incentives for Amazon

Julia Conley, staff writer

Anti-Amazon protesters in Arlington County, Virginia were outraged Saturday after the county board dismissed outright their concerns over the corporate giant's decision to build a headquarters in Crystal City—voting unanimously to approve $23 million in tax incentives for the company.

That’s why this government has accurately been described as an ‘Inverted-Totalitarian’ Government. Actually, a more accurate description that nails it right on the head is, a 100% Corrupt, Inverted-Totalitarian, Police-State Government. This type of government can only exist when it has a citizenry that is composed of 95-97% braindead, indoctrinated, socialized, brainwashed, willingly-and-blindly-led, stand-for-nothing, never-had-an-original-thought, know-nothing, weak, apathetic, principless, moraless, totally worthless morons. That’s the cry of shamlessness.

Don’t ya wonder what the Back Deal is between Bezos and these various local governments is?

If all municipalities rejected these insane give-a-ways to corporations that saddle the workers shitty jobs and local tax payers with making up the difference and financially covering for a Welfare Queen like Bezos and Amazon… Corporate America needs to get off of the Welfare. And Local Governments need to stop offering it to them. Hell, as soon as the tax breaks end - these Parasites simply move on and leave the locals holding the bag.

Welcome aboard! Yes, Sheldon Wollen was accurate, in my view, when he labeled the U.S. government Inverted Totalitarian.

Funny that Amazon needed 3 Billion from NY, but only 23 Million from Arlington County. That shows just how much these incentives are merely a brive demanded by an over-the-top megalomaniac to cement his image of himself as ‘special’ and ‘valuable’. BDS Amazon.

The entire Arlington county board is Democrats. The city I live in is entirely controlled by Democrats.

And pulling the strings and gentrifying these places are corporate power players and developers.

But I suppose working class residents are being forced out in a kinder, gentler way.

Not just a waste of money. Corporations like Amazon to push these deals are a huge suck from the community.

Here’s the numbers:

Amazon will receive $573 million in performance-based incentives for its investment in National Landing in Arlington, Virginia.

That number includes a workforce cash grant worth up to $550 million from the Commonwealth of Virginia based on the 25,000 jobs Amazon plans to create there. The company said average wages will also be $150,000 in the Arlington location, bringing the cash grant value to $22,000 per job created over the next 12 years. This incentive is contingent on Amazon creating the high-paying jobs it promises.

The incentive also includes a $23 million cash grant from Arlington over 15 years based on incremental growth of an existing local tax on hotel rooms.

All I can say is vote the entire board out of office. If the voters of Arlington County can’t do that, then Amazon and their (lack of) values wins.

But . . .  But . . .  Socialism is perfectly O-K in D’Uh-Merika — just so long as it benefits Multi-NaZional Korporations and Major Sports Franchises . . .

On the other hand, it could mean they are just fine with the way things are. But in reality some of are aware, and many are not. When I see so many heads buried in their phones, constantly, I do wonder.

This move sounds Trumpian to me.
Bezos: So (the people) don’t want me in NYC. well then I’ll get it in somewhere else that the (the people) don’t want me. So there.
With too much money, there is too much power.

Insanely glad we got rid of Bezos in NY! Cuomo and DeBlasio were pissed as they must have lost Mucho Payola on this deal. Dont need their low wage jobs, huge incentives, zero taxes, ruining local businesses and would have destroyed the already over crowded mass transit system that’s barely functioning in an over crowded area. Amazon is pure evil. Anyone who shops online or uses their Prime services is feeding the Beast. Stop it! Think before you buy! Sorry VA, you are stuck with them.

Dumb people!

What’s the penalty to Amazon when they renig on their commitments, as they inevitably will.
