Originally published at: Critics Fume as ICC Excludes US From Probe Into Afghan War Crimes
What! Corporate Imperial Capitalists abide by the Golden Rule and be held accountable for their crimes against humanity? Someone must have forgotten exactly which planet we were on? Indeed the earth like the moon that orbits the earth has a dark side, too.
The last act in Afghanistan by the US terrorists was the murders of 7 innocent children, which was a heinous and egregious US war crime! How can the US terrorists be excluded by the ICC?
Appalling – though we probably deserve our own probe for the war crimes committed there, given the extent of these.
This is part and parcel of why the U.S.A is almost always at war-only a few scapegoats (if that) punished and no probe makes these misdeeds viscerally accessible to the public.
To reference another war, how many average voters today would even recognize the name “Abu Ghraib?”
The book American Exceptionalism and American Innocence by Roberto Sirvent and Danny Haiphong is a collection of essays by several authors describing this country’s sociopathy and malignant narcissistic disorder. It’s the reason Trump was elected and is still in the wind. He IS our country. We’re god’s chosen nation, the finest ever in world history, and, if we make mistakes and people are killed or injured…well, that’s an oopsie. Too bad, so sad.
Now that we have dubbiks to do our dirty work, just like all the others we have in our lives, we’ve truly turned into golems, monsters in human form but without compassion and empathy. Those who are our victims have no power to take us down; the others who continue to allow it are aiding and abetting our evil.
We are collapsing rapidly. In the very near future, it will be each other we’ll be doing horrific things to. Not that we already don’t do them-to the elderly, the poor, the disabled, people of color. This time it will be their cohort.
I had a vivid dream last night of Uncle Sam, his face cyanotic. He fell, and on his back were these blood-swollen masses of insects swarming. I woke up in a cold sweat, knowing what I was seeing.
I don’t like the idea of the US being investigated for war crimes. But I like even less that the US committed war crimes, so investigate on!
I was watching Mississiooi burning and there a scene where the Police release a balck man from jail. A truck with several white men drives out of an alley and the Police watch doing nothing as the white men grab the black and hustle him into the truck with the intent of killing him. The police then turn away an go back into the prison.
The Police here are in fact worse then the men that did the beating given they are derelict in their duty.
Much the same is true of the ICC with this action.
In doing this the ICC becomes complicit in all war crimes committed by the USA and other nations whose members they refuse to prosecute (Such as the UK and Tony Blair). They all but acknowledge that they are a tool of imperialism used by the nations of the West to extend their authority and will to other nations of the world.
This is in fact worse then having no ICC at all.
I hope we are all noticing the fact that this abhorrent and inexcusable decision is happening during a Biden administration…, not Trump. Although Trump aggressively attacked the I.C.C., it is evident that Biden is continuing his policies, and perhaps even ramping them up. This decision, which equates to a crumbling of the I.C.C., is a direct result of U.S. economic pressure and coercion.
Please write to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken to demand an explanation.
“Viscerally”? Did you mean “…completely inaccessible?”
The press used to put a map with new articles on war. They stopped doing that. Americans don’t even know where the places we fight are.
Something from the article I don’t understand. It mostly talks about the Taliban. Then one quote says they will pursue offenses by the Taliban and IS. The Taliban and IS are very different.
The Taliban is Afghan, with some support from Pakistan perhaps. Their main purpose was to fight invaders. They were local people. And they are morphing, changing, as many Afghans joined them when the US left. The Taliban were dealing with invasion of their country, first from Russia and then from the US and their allies.
IS is a militant mercenary group from across the Middle East. Their only objective is to commit war crimes and create misery and chaos. Their membership in constant flux. Makes little sense to go after them instead of their trainers and funders.
In RT today there is an article saying that Biden is talking about getting access to Russia’s bases in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kyrgyzstan. General Miller met with a Russian counterpart in Helsinki last week to discuss this.
" 'They’ve really left us in a terrible position’: American Senator slams Biden as Pentagon reveals US may use Russian bases in Asia"
The comments on the article from Russians are quite interesting I think.
Yep, Trump was a disaster. Yet, he started the haul to move the US out of Afghanistan. I give him credit for that.
