Federal workers are pretty used to being slapped. I’ve been retired for 10 years now, but I recognize the lyrics. Jimmy Carter, Ronnie Raygun, the Bushes and the Clintons all sang it with feeling.

Who in their right mind believes these folks represent the interests of the majority?

Same here. Husband retired in 2011 and it didn’t matter who was in office, Fed employees kept falling further and further behind to the private sector, for decades.

Nearly half of US voters, often more, hand over the reins of power to those who mount the horse with a gun trained squarely on its head. What a stupid electorate has arisen by propaganda. Thank you Saint Ronny–Not.

Am assuming this is a non-starter in the House.

The scorched earth maneuvers continue so to deny the new administration workability. Maybe if the government shut down this would evolve into general strikes. What a horror show in the middle of exponential rises in Covid. A million travelers flying this week. The numbers of cases and deaths will be staggering and affect us all. And the would be emperor sings ( plays golf) while the country burns.

These unevolved cretins act like they are getting revenge on the world because they were bullied or something as kids-especially Mitch. They need to take it out on those who have hurt them instead of the innocent citizens of the USA.

Strange how there is no freeze on fed. employees health, life, or dental insurance costs.

It may have more to do with constituency.
Actually though, the Obama freeze made sense because of the horrible economic downturn with the Great Recession. And right now the same with the covid-19 downturn. But shouldn’t it be a national freeze not just for fed.employees?

Biden is senile if he thinks he can “reach across” to these sub-human creatures and do anything meaningful (except for the 1%).

Maybe this is Biden’s con job. Continuing to pretend he can work with this vicious demented crew, for the benefit of his “base” in order to get the Wall Street, MIC, PHARMA agenda through.

This is now months after a major downturn. This is not the time to be cutting funds as millions are out of work, millions continue to work at high health risk, millions are hungry, many are losing their homes or apartments, and debt is overwhelming.
Now is the time to give $2000. each month to each person until the crises is over. Now is the time to give hazard pay to those on the front lines. Now is the time to restore security and guarantee proper healthcare and housing to all.

The far right side of our “national party” knows they are losing their grip on power. Looks like they’re prepared to give the country the middle finger, no bailout for those out of work, no pay raise for federal employees, and most likely a government shutdown in December, during a raging pandemic.
This appears to be to be their end game, and possibly ours also, if we recover from this, it will be decades in the future.
But it warms my heart, knowing they took care of the richest among us, that was important. /s

Due in part to tax breaks given to the wealthy, massive military spending and then the pandemic, Trump ran up over 10 trillion debt in a single term. The Republicans now have to play act at being “fiscally responsible”. They are in fact trying to hammer the Public service because they generally vote Democrat.

It’s incomprehensible how anyone votes republican let alone 71,000,000. And then those same voters will cry when the most dangerous organization in the world causes the federal gov to shut down. You can’t fix stupid!

Ah, but progressive socialists are the problem.

Greetings, brother Fed! Worked for Social Security for almost 30 years. It was like being a punching bag with abuse both from the public(indoctrinated by the likes of Raygun and Newt’s Contract on America) and the government. Yet we did our work because it was what we had signed up for. However, I did report several calls to the FBI from members of the public who called us wishing our Federal building had been bombed just like the one in Oke City. Sure they soiled themselves when FBI agents showed up at their door, with a couple federal marshals riding shotgun.
I highly recommend every member of the public read Michael Lewis’s The Fifth Risk and learn about how complex the system is. Even with a college degree, I took night courses in family law and psychology to improve my skills for my job. And earned my socialist chops by being the first union rep in my office in 20 years.

They’ll ask a room full of older republican voters by show of hand if they’re in favor of government programs. Not a single hand will be raised. Then they’ll ask how many are willing to give up there Social Security and Medicare. Again, not a single hand will be raised. These conservative minded fools don’t even understand how their government works. Yet, they’re given the right to vote.

Glad to see there are still hippies

Federal workers are not being furloughed, laid off or facing the kind of uncertainty others are - nor will they. Plus the current deficit is gargantuan.

Now they are angry about not getting their annual pay raises from money the government doesn’t have.

Well who besides grownups could blame them?

I really do not see what harm giving every person 2000 a month can do.

Other then the fact it all ends up in the pockets of the 1 percent at the end of the day.
