The fossil fuel industry and their surrogates will be happy to explain why we should continue letting them make huge profits (plus get subsidies) for a few more decades. They will explain how there must be some continuing use of fossil fuels citing sea travel and air travel.
What they don't want to explain is how if they do continue their 'some continued use' policies that the climate enters the catastrophic and deaths from heat and drought (floods as well in other areas) plus the increasingly frequent and deadly mega storms as well as rising seas will be the price that must be paid by the planet for these swan song decades of fossil fuel profits.
As yet only the poor die from the heat.. and the elderly...and the infirm...and from fires and famine too. What will the rate of climate refugees be per added decade of fossil fuel use...and the deaths from unrest...and from wars...and from overcrowded boats...and from... the true costs of their profits?
