Damning UN Report: Myanmar Generals Should Be Prosecuted for Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity

Jessica Corbett, staff writer

Following a United Nations Human Rights Council fact-finding mission in Myanmar, a damning U.N. report published Monday concludes that the nation's military leaders, including its top commander, should be further investigated and prosecuted for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes committed against Rohingya Muslims in the wake of a violent crackdown last August that forced more than half a million refugees to flee to neighboring Bangladesh.

Firstly, I agree that Human rights violations are ongoing in Myanmar and those responsible should be prosecuted.

My issue is these types of “Human rights reports” coming out of the UN tend to be very selective, singling out certain Countries as pariahs even as other Countries committing the same abuses are given a free pass.

War Criminal like Henry Kissinger, Madeline Albright, Tony Blair . Benjamin Netanyahu and Muhammed Bin Salam still walk the Earth as free men and until some of THIS type arrested, charged and convicted of Crimes against Humanity , the UN remains a body that only serves the interests of the “Great powers”.

You speak the truth, and it needs to change. All should be prosecuted, including US leaders.
