WASHINGTON - CEPR's Dean Baker issued the following statement to the 2016 Social Security Trustees Report:
"Changes in a program..." usually means deep cuts or elimination of that program. The Clinton wing had targeted Social Security Disability a number of times since the 1990s, and discovered that this didn't cause any concern among liberals, making it an easy target. In 2015, Dems in Congress agreed to virtually end food stamps to the elderly poor and the disabled, again to the indifference of even liberals. From this, can we assume that the "changes" referred to here amount to more cuts (or worse) to the disabled?
