'Deeply Disturbing': Trump Gets About One Intelligence Briefing a Week

Nadia Prupis, staff writer

President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly receiving an average of one intelligence briefing a week—meaning he's skipping most of them, Reuters reported on Friday.

That's all his pea brain can handle. Besides, as emperor he can simply order his soldiers to attack any encroaching perceived enemy and/or employ use of the nuclear codes...who needs more than one intelligence briefing a week? Certainly not the Emperor in his New Clothes....

#3

Somewhat related to this is how much time he will spend at the White House. If he spends his weekends at trump tower and continues gallivanting around the country stirring up his base with his usual rantings and lieing, well then of course he doesn't need to keep up with current goings on around the world, he can just monitor twitter and rule through tweets. trump don't need no stinking White House.

#4

Anyone who listened to Trump's campaign speeches and his statements during the campaign will recall that he said the intelligence services had not done a good job and that he would seek other sources of his own choosing for information. The intelligence on Russia, for example, was completely ignorant of the impending Soviet collapse in 1989. Billions of dollars of multi "agencies" failed to prevent or even limit the 911 attacks. The WMD information on Iraq was totally wrong. They could read the contents of your purse from outer space but could not find Bin Laden for 10 years. How helpful is the information on Afghanistan in the 14 year and counting "war on terror" there? The information on Libya's Gadaffi and more recently Syria's Assad slaughtering their own people was wrong. The 24/7 spying on everybody and everything is useless. Their "briefings" are rightly optional and massive layoffs, downsizing and budget cuts would be a good move for the entire non-productive, useless security industry.

Trump doesn't have the attention span to get through intelligence briefings. He doesn't or can't read books. If the intelligence community can somehow break down their information into tweet-like fragments that might be the best course.

#6

Preparing the case for impeachment/indictment begins now. The innate arrogance, greed, and corruption of this truly reprehensible, depraved, pathological creature, along with his Cabinet from Hell's unconstitutional/criminal actions will bring him/them down!

#7

Trump will likely be the absentee president busy with his own family international business and will defer to Pence, Christian Fascist.

#8

And pay night-long visits to his favorite news source, InfoWars, creation of the infamous conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones...from which T-dump has quoted verbatim in his early morning tweets because he has a hard time coming down from his nightly personal coke party. The tweet after the hornet's nest he stirred up with China over his contact with Taiwan in which he chastised China came word-for-word from the InfoWars site.

#9

It is obvious to me that trump intends on having his VP run the country day to day and he'll only step in to override one of pence's decisions when it's in the best interest of his company or brand. It might be for the best as pence is at least someone who took a poli-sci course and has governing experience. Trump will expect to be a one termer and will seek to enrich himself accordingly, which will be his undoing.

Pence, proponent of conversion therapy for LBTQI; overseer of the mandate in his state that women exercising their right to choose having to then have funerals for the remains thus causing them and their families even more physical, emotional and then financial pain. A bat-shit crazy evangelical Sycophant that literally sold his soul to the devil to run as T-dumps VP...OMG, I am in hell here on Earth!

#11

This is a good thing! It means Trump is not interested in starting more foreign wars! Clinton would be overdosing on fake WMD's in Iran and that damned RED SCARE! (If she were the President Elect right now.)

"Putin is Hitler" - Hillary Clinton. Defensive NATO must always be used to offensively bomb seven new countries every year under the blood-thirsty Madame Secretary.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

The whole world has had enough of this intel B.S. Pence can handle it, and when he wants to invade, Trump will tell him no.

What? Are those boogiemen on camels going to build an Airforce, Navy and Space Command out of sand???? They represent zero threat (as long as Hillary quits sending them weapons and arms like she did from Libya to Turkey and to al Queda and ISIS, as Secretary of State.)

#12

Yes sirree. Who needs that security shit? Or like the Shrub said to the 9/11 CIA messenger "You've covered your ass" (clunk, toss security memo in ranch trash can).
Just once a week so he can hold up the award winning production values of of his ongoing "reality TV" show.

#13

I disagree with you there. I really don't think Trump will tell him no if it doesn't directly affect his business interests.

#14

Know who these people are to effectively gage their future actions. Clinton was a lackey of the Pentagon and Counsel on Foreign Relations (CFR), addicted as she was to snacks.

But Trump is a billionaire and doesn't need small snacks. He's interested, from indications in Taiwan, in building more Trump Towers all over the world. Trump got rich on real estate and Casinos. Clintons got rich running drugs and weapons through their state in Iran Contra, and starting wars with the bush crime family.

A new movie about some of this staring Tom Cruise is called "American Made" coming out in 2017. (It used to be called "Mena" after the town in Arkansas where ex-TWA smuggler Barry Seal ran drugs for VP bush with the complete knowledge of the governor Bill Clinton. Hillary was a state lawyer during this period, IIRC. Mysterious airplane crashes keep happening to the staff, so the release has been pushed back.

Trump reportedly has 250 businesses in Russia, so, we are no longer going to war with the Russians using the NATO force Clinton amassed via Victoria Nuland and Rober Kagen war hawks. I hope Trump fires them both from the state department and greedy think tanks.

No surprise anyone would not listen to "intelligence" from the current USA administration that comes up with every excuse to explain the behavior of muslim maniacs killing people all over the world----its not terrorism even when they are screaming allah Akbar in people's faces---as Obama said---increases in terrorism worldwide are a result of CLIMATE CHANGE, the Orlando shooter was suffering from sexual identity confusion and bad parenting, the Chelsea bomber was a result of someone not fitting in at school, the San Bernadino massacre was the result of being offended by a christmas party, and racism, Jews in Palestine and other hilarious excuses---anything to avoid the 800 pound gorilla in the room that is to blame---the muslim culture and religion!

#16

Well, if Trump is ignoring the bloody fools who don't understand history and other cultures, and who seem to be consistent in telling the POTUS what mistakes to repeat, I would think Trump a wise man.

#17

Since 1945, the USA's "intelligence" community have made consistently utterly appalling mistakes. Clearly, they get their understanding from Hollywood and cheap dime novels.

Definition of terrorism (Merriam-Webster)
: the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

"War is organised murder, and nothing else." WW1 veteran Harry Patch, who died at age 111.

Any systematic use of violence meant to coerce is terrorism.

"This is a good thing!"

Nothing about this clown of a PE is "good". His narcissistic disorder is in total control.

Also, since you can apparently predict the future (the alternate future that is not happening), can you tell us just at what year we all begin to sizzle?

#20

Begin to sizzle? It was 100 degrees across the entire USA in July. 12 countries were on fire. It was 36 degrees above normal at the North Pole, Where the hell where you? In a hole?

We just avoided Clinton's Nuclear World War. Nothing heats up the planet like war. Nothing. The biggest user of fossils fuels is the US Military. I can live with a few crooked casinos. I can't live with world war heating up the globe. And neither can you.

Here's the July post:

Eastern Hemisphere's All-Time Temperature Record: Kuwait Fries in 54°C (129.2°F) Heat
By: Jeff Masters , 3:01 AM GMT on July 22, 2016

It was a historic day in the annals of meteorology on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the Middle East, where the temperature in Mitribah, Kuwait soared to an astonishing 54°C (129.2°F). If verified, this would be Earth's hottest temperature ever reliably measured outside of Death Valley, California, according to wunderground's weather historian Christopher C. Burt. The temperature is likely to be verified, since Thursday's incredible heat also extended into Iraq, which set their all-time heat record: 128°F (53.4°C) at Basrah. According to Burt and Herrera, Thursday's Basrah reading ranks as the fourth highest temperature ever reliably measured outside of Death Valley; the only higher non-Death Valley temperatures were today's 54°C (129.2°F) at Mitribah, Kuwait, a 53.6°C reading at Sulaibya, Kuwait in 2011, and a 53.5°C reading at Mohenjodaro, Pakistan on May 26, 2010. Note that there is one other competitor for hottest non-Death Valley temperature ever measured: the official all-time high temperature in Israel is a 54°C (129.2°F) reading from Tirat Tsvi, Israel on June 22, 1942. The Israeli Met Office pursued an investigation of the record in 2012, prompted by an inquiry from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and convincing evidence from wunderground's weather historian Christopher C. Burt and weather extremes expert Howard Rainford that the actual high temperature was a full degree lower. The Israeli Met Office concluded that the record was valid, but refused to make public the details leading to their conclusions. Until they do so, the record remains suspect.

Figure 1. A photograph of the official Furnace Creek, Death Valley maximum recording thermometer at time of observation on Monday morning July 1, 2013 (which was for the maximum temperature measured on June 30). The photo shows a maximum of 129.2°F was reached, tying it with the 129.2°F reading at Mitribah, Kuwait, on July 21, 2016, for the highest reliably measured temperature on Earth, according to wunderground's weather historian Christopher C. Burt. Observations at the site are made only at 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. daily. The shelter door is not opened at any other time in order to not affect the ambient air temperature inside the shelter. You may have seen a different image of this same thermometer on the NWS-Las Vegas web site posted July 1, 2013 that shows the temperature just shy of 129°. That is because THAT photograph was taken after the thermometer had been removed from its shelter and turned vertically, which caused the mercury to slip down the tube about 0.3°F. This photograph was taken prior to the thermometer being removed from the shelter. Photo courtesy of Death Valley National Park and NWS-Las Vegas.

Comparison with Death Valley temperatures
The official world record high temperature is 56.7 °C (134.1 °F) on July 10, 1913, in Furnace Creek Ranch, California, in Death Valley. Mr. Burt has commented "the record has been scrutinized perhaps more than any other in the United States. I don't have much more to add to the debate aside from my belief it is most likely not a valid reading when one looks at all the evidence." He proposes that the highest reliably recorded temperature at Death Valley is a 54.0 °C (129.2 °F) reading on June 30, 2013--tied with Thursday's measurement in Kuwait. The 129.2°F value at Death Valley was rounded down to 129°F in the official record, though. Death Valley has also recorded 53.9°C (129°F) four times: July 20, 1960, July 18, 1998, July 20, 2005, July 7, 2007. There is no evidence that the temperature reached 129.2°F on those dates, unlike the reading on June 30, 2013.

The Middle East's heat wave continues on Friday
The Middle East's astonishing heat wave will last one more day. Friday's high in Basrah, Iraq is predicted to hit 128°F and Mitribah, Kuwait is predicted to hit 127°F. Gotvand, Iran is predicted to hit 126°F--very close to Iran's all-time heat record of 127.4°F, set most recently at Gotvand on July 17, 2014. On Saturday, the ridge of high pressure bringing the record heat will weaken, bringing temperatures about 10°F cooler to Iraq and Kuwait, and about 2 - 4°F cooler to Iran.

UPDATE: On Friday, July 22, 2016, Basrah, Iraq International Airport reported a high temperature of 53.9°C (129°F). Today's high in Basrah is the second highest reliably measured temperature in world recorded history outside of Death Valley, California. Only yesterday's 54°C (129.2°F) at Mitribah, Kuwait was hotter.

Mr. Burt plans to post an in-depth look at the new heat records in a forthcoming post.

I'll have an update on the tropics on Friday afternoon.
