Dem Platform Includes Plank to Close Notorious School of the Americas

Translated from Clinton doublespeak:
That means they'll close the one facility at Fort Benning, Georgia to placate those irksome peaceniks out there, and then, after sufficient time has elapsed open a newer, different and improved version somewhere else.
You see, it all comes down to what your definition of is, is.
Brace yourselves, the next four years will be filled with way more of this stuff.
Triangulation is back!

Lol---foolish me, of course that's more how it will play out because in the end it will cut down on a whole lot of extra paperwork.
Or maybe not, there's money to be had in construction grants...
The possibilities are endless.
Jesus, it's enough to make your head spin!

#6

Yay it about time. It will be gone like Gitmo.....wait a moment.

The Clintons will simply move it into the basement of the Clinton Foundation, equipped with a networked email server.

War criminals, not to worry. You are still in good hands, regardless of the damn platform.

And take note, as of about 8:30 PM EDT Common Dreams has yet to mention anything of Dr Jill Stein's response to the Sanders capitulation earlier today.
Instead, we get more blather concerning the non-entity platform.
Are the priorities here for the kinds of values Senator Sanders articulated during this past campaign, or are they merely to be yet one more Democratic Party echo chamber? ---no real need to answer, as this is really more of rhetorical question.

Monkeys will fly out Clinton's & Bernie's arses before they close The U.S. Institute for Nun Raping, Sky Diving Without Parachutes & Political Assassinations Made Easy. Oh, I forget, Indigenous People Extermination with Prejudice for Profit.

This follows the now long-typical Democratic Party pattern of offering a visible but hollow gesture to its constituency. Close Gitmo did not equal end torture and kidnapping and 4th-Amendment violations. Ending what was once called "The School of the Americas" will not mean cutting back on training thugs and assassins for Latin America.

And, of course, Gitmo did not close.

No, the CIA and its narco and other allies are returning to eat up Latin America, and they have the US on the boiler, assuming something does not shut down or collapse in the meantime. There is now not only no major liberal or leftist or workers' party in the US; there is no major moderate or moderately conservative party either.

It is still good to vote, and vote third party, but we need to go outside the electoral system. And we are going to have to batten down the hatches and get ready. It is very likely that the best news that we could get at this point might be another major recession, which would at least weaken the business-as-usual crowd and reduce consumption.

Trump is only a decoy, and Clinton has the nod from on high to administer the next brace of wars and to ratchet down controls.

Haha! The platform this, the platform that…

Are people really this naive and gullible to think that this makes any difference at all?

With Slick Willie, the 1992 platform promised targeted jobs programs to reduce inner city unemployment, the building of affordable housing, funding of urban mass transit, measures to begin weaning the economy off fossil fuels, a peace dividend, the investment of some of the former Cold War military budget into the civilian economy to create jobs and opportunities, new environmental protections and committed Democrats to rolling back carbon dioxide emissions to 1990 levels by 2000.

From 2008: “We will provide immediate relief to working people who have lost their jobs, families who are in danger of losing their homes, and those who – no matter how hard they work – are seeing prices go up more than their income. We will invest in America again –in world-class public education, in our infrastructure, and in green technology –so that our economy can generate the good, high-paying jobs of the future. We will end the outrage of unaffordable, unavailable health care, protect Social Security, and help Americans save for retirement. And we will harness American ingenuity to free this nation from the tyranny of oil."

Similar crap with Oily Bomber in 2012.

All a big nothing burger in terms of what was even attempted, let alone accomplished.

Yet here's CD telling us all about all the great stuff in the current Kabuki Theater show.

The School of Atrocities is just one more of those "Karmic Expenses" that Americans pay for in their everyday lives without even realizing it. Every assassination by drone has an emotional/spiritual/karmic cost that will be levied upon all who call the USA home. Every "regime change" of another country's leader has a secret cost that sucks some of the life out of our people. Could the Hillary-supported coup in Honduras have occurred without help from the School of Atrocities? I doubt it. I also doubt that she, a fan of Henry "War Criminal" Kissinger, would ever actually close the place. Without the dependable help of the SoA, peace could break out in South America, and we would have no way to get it stopped.

How far it goes, it seems to me, is up to us. Gitmo didn't close in large part due to direct Congressional obstruction. Check out how many times in the military funding bill it said "none of these monies are to be used for closing [Gitmo]."

And yes, I'm that idealistic, and I'm not the only one.

Uh.... Gitmo anyone?

#24

The article left out the fact that, among the Right Wing extremists the school has trained, included are many members of the Death Squads that have plagued South & Central American countries for many years.

Not just the School of Assassins.
It's also the School of Mass Murderers.
